What is Interventional Pain Management?
Finding relief from pain can lead to a more fulfilling life. We work in partnership with you to address the root cause of your pain, utilizing techniques like trigger-point injections and nerve blocks to alleviate your pain.
Each member of the Interventional Pain Clinic team is certified in Non-Surgical Pain Management, working with patients on an individual basis to identify and address the root cause of their pain without the use of opioid-based prescription drugs.
Our Interventional Pain Clinic is integrated into the Gritman Medical Center hospital and clinic network. From vital health screenings with experienced practitioners to physical therapy, diagnostic imaging, specialized surgeries, family birth services, and everything in between, we strive every day to provide comprehensive care that gets you the help you need with compassion and expertise.

What is Cooled Radiofrequency Ablation?
The process involves the destruction – or ablation – of nerves to reduce chronic pain by preventing the transmission of pain signals. It can provide a year or more of pain relief and improve physical functionality – without the use of potentially addictive pain medications.

How is Gritman’s interventional pain management different from others in the region?
To offer the region and our patients the best surgical options and interventional pain management, we have partnered with Panhandle Anesthesiology Associates to provide expanded and top-of-the-line anesthesia care and pain management. We now have four full-time Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) who are all certified in Non-surgical Pain Management. Our CRNAs have more than six decades of combined experience.
Does the clinic prescribe or manage medication?
Yes. We can prescribe non-opioid medications shown to alleviate pain. If opioids are needed, we’ll refer you to your primary care provider for a medication evaluation.
What should I expect when receiving an injection? Will it hurt?
You’ll be offered medication to help you relax. A Registered Nurse will then escort you to the operating room and get you comfortable. Using X-rays, we find the exact place for the injection and then numb your skin in that area. The injection takes 10 minutes or less and since the area is numbed, there is only a slight discomfort. You can go home shortly after the procedure, however, you’ll need a driver because of the calming medicine.
What can I expect after receiving an injection?
You should feel immediate pain relief, which may improve over the next week. For best results, injections are usually given in a three-part series with a one month gap between each visit.
