The National Ozone Unit (NOU) is committed to protecting the ozone layer and mitigating climate change by regulating the import and use of controlled substances like
Hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs)
and
Hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs)
.
In line with Bhutan's obligations under the
Montreal Protocol
and national policies, we are opening
registration for the import of HCFCs and HFCs for the year 2025
. This registration process ensures that refrigerants are imported responsibly and in compliance with environmental regulations, supporting our transition to sustainable cooling technologies.
By regulating these imports, Bhutan continues to play a vital role in reducing ozone depletion and promoting climate-friendly alternatives. We encourage all eligible importers to register within the given timeline to obtain the necessary permits.
