How to Find & Request Books
Books at the SDSU Imperial Valley Library
If you want to limit your search for books in the SDSU Library catalog that are located only at the IV Library, click on the ‘Books’ tab in the Search All box of the main campus Library homepage. Then click on the checkbox that says “IV campus only”. You can search by Keyword, Title, Author/Creator, or Subject. Note: there is also a ‘Library’ filter available anytime you have a page of results that you can use to restrict to the IV Library collection.
Books at the SDSU Campus Library
Students, faculty and staff may have books delivered from the San Diego Campus Library using the “Request/Hold” option in the item record. This is a free service for books that are located at the San Diego Campus Library, or IV Campus Library books that are currently checked-out. Search the Library Catalog for the book you want, then click the “Sign in for more options” button under the title and select “Place a hold on this item”. Follow the prompts to enter your information. You will receive an email when the book is ready for pick-up (usually 3-4 days).
Books from Other Libraries
If the book you want is not in the SDSU Library Catalog, or the book is currently checked-out, you may request the book to be sent to the IV Campus Library via Circuit. Circuit is a consortium of San Diego libraries sharing books. Normally the book is delivered within 3 or 4 days. Other options include CSU+ and Inter-Library Loan. Study Rooms, Computers, and More
The Library has a number of computers for searching the Catalog, doing research, word processing, accessing course reserves and other University services. It also offers printing, copier as well as scanning services.
