Dual Credit
Teacher/Instructor Eligibility
A teacher desiring to offer courses for dual credit through Diné College must meet the following criteria:
Candidate should have a Master’s Degree with 18 credit hours in the content area.
Individuals applying to teach as Dual Credit adjunct faculty must first be approved by the appropriate Diné College School Dean. Approval is required before any instruction in a Dual Credit course can begin.
Potential adjunct faculty must meet Diné College’s credentialing requirements and are required to complete a Dual Credit Program orientation before teaching any course. This orientation ensures faculty understand academic standards, policies, and expectations for delivering college-level instruction.
Diné College School Deans are responsible for reviewing and approving course syllabi submitted by adjunct faculty each semester to ensure alignment with college standards. In addition, faculty evaluations will include classroom observations to assess instructional quality and support continuous improvement in dual credit courses.
Adjunct Faculty Application
Curriculum
Courses offered through the dual credit program will present a rigorous curriculum and will introduce qualified students to college-level work for which they may earn both high school and college credit. Course materials, textbooks, and assignments will follow the Diné College course design, objectives, and assessment outcomes. Curriculum alignment before instruction begins will ensure that the dual credit teacher is able to cover both Diné College and high school core content in the chosen course. The Diné College faculty reserves the right to determine which courses are eligible for dual credit and what course content should be covered.
Credit
Students who enroll in and successfully complete a Dual Credit course will earn college credit, which is recorded on an official Diné College transcript. To transfer these credits to another college or university, students must request a copy of their transcript directly from Diné College.

Program Evaluation and Follow Up
Classroom visits by Diné College Dual Credit personnel and faculty help ensure that instructors are delivering course content at the appropriate level and quality required for college credit. These visits serve as a key component of academic oversight and support.
High school candidates must submit their curriculum and credentials to Diné College for review and approval. To teach Dual Credit courses, candidates must meet the same qualifications as instructors teaching the equivalent courses on campus. Upon approval, the candidate will be officially credentialed by Diné College to teach Dual Credit classes at partnering high schools.
A key part of evaluating this program is understanding how well it prepares students for college after high school. The program’s continuation will be based in part on data, such as how many students successfully transition to college and how many require additional preparation before taking more advanced courses.
