Book Industry Communication (BIC) is pleased to announce the appointment of two new Board members, following a BIC member-wide nomination process held in late 2025.
Sue Kelly,
Operations Director,
Publiship
Sheila Pinder,
CEO,
Publishing Scotland
Sue Kelly and Sheila Pinder join the 10 current Board members, bringing additional decades of diverse and valuable experience and insight from across the book industry. Their appointments reflect BIC’s ongoing commitment to both involving and representing its membership, and to supporting collaboration across the supply chain.
Speaking of her recent appointment, Sue Kelly said: “It is a privilege to be appointed to the Board of BIC. For the last 10 years as a member, I have admired the commitment of the organisation to the book industry. Driving higher standards and encouraging collaboration, actively bringing the different contributors, publishers, printers, distributors, logistics providers and booksellers together to overcome challenges and create solutions. I am looking forward to being able to contribute to the future successes as we continue to create value for the stakeholders.”
Sheila Pinder stated: “BIC is a fantastic, and sometimes under-celebrated, organisation that quietly undertakes essential work from which the whole UK book industry benefits: I’m delighted to be able to join them at this time, bringing a regional perspective as well as my previous systems and supply chain experience to their governance body.”
Karina Urquhart, BIC’s Executive Director, commented “I’m delighted to welcome Sue Kelly and Sheila Pinder to the BIC Board of Directors. Sue’s extensive leadership experience in global shipping and distribution logistics, and supply chain operations, alongside Sheila’s expertise in publishing operations, systems, and strategic change, bring valuable perspectives to the Board. Their insights and experience will be key as we continue to build upon and grow BIC’s ability to support and guide the UK book industry now, and in the future.”
Finally, speaking as the Chair of the BIC Board, Jon Windus (Head of Product Leadership, NielsenIQ BookData) shared his words of support: “I am delighted that Sue and Sheila have stepped forward to strengthen the BIC Board, adding their considerable experience and insight and track record of engagement. This is a pivotal time for BIC as we work on setting our strategy for the next 3 years over the coming few months.”
