Nili Dunst Childrens' Torah at Ramaz/KJ
עֵץ חַיִּים הִיא לַמַּחֲזִיקִים בָּהּ
“It is a tree of life to those who hold fast to it.”
(Mishlei 3:18)
In loving memory of Nili Dunst, beloved daughter of Adam and Camille, and cherished sister of Sasha ‘23 and Asher, the community is embarking on a deeply meaningful project: the writing of a Sefer Torah that will live in the hearts and hands of our children at Ramaz / KJ.
Even in her earliest months, Nili was present in spaces of Torah learning—accompanying her mother to classes and quietly becoming part of that world. In that sense, this Torah feels not only like a tribute, but a continuation—rooted in a connection to Torah that began from the very start of her life.
The
Nili Dunst Children’s Torah at Ramaz / KJ
will not simply be placed in the Aron Kodesh—it will be
lived with
From the earliest years in our ECC through high school, students will experience the Torah not only as a sacred object, but as a living presence in their education and identity. They will witness the writing of the Torah itself—letter by letter—developing a personal connection to the process, the sanctity, and the meaning behind it.
As the Torah is completed and welcomed into our community with joy and celebration, its role will only deepen.
This Torah will be:
Learned with
– used in classrooms and educational moments across all divisions
Celebrated with
– central to Chumash celebrations and milestone experiences
Davened with
– used in student tefillah, including the teen minyan on Shabbat
Gathered around
– present at school-wide programs and meaningful communal moments
Carried forward
– accompanying students on Shabbatonim and special experiences beyond the classroom
This Torah ensures that Nili’s legacy is not static, but alive—guiding children as they learn, pray, celebrate, and grow.
