You can reach ISH by phone every day from Monday to Friday from 8:30 to 16:30 during school term and 9:00 to 16:00 during school holidays. Hamburg Airport Public train & bus ISH School Bus Transport by car About Hamburg Hamburg’s only airport "Hamburg-Fuhlsbüttel" is located North of the city centre. A taxi ride from the airport to our school takes approx. 30 minutes. Alternatively, you can take the S1 train from the airport in the direction of “Wedel” or "Blankenese". You will need to get off at “Klein Flottbek” station. From there you can take an attractive 5–10min walk along Hesten and Max Emden Weg, between the Botanical Gardens and the Polo Club (note that there is no access to the school through the Botanical Gardens). A popular way of reaching ISH from points in the city is the 283 bus line, which also serves the stop “Hemmingstedter Weg”, or any bus line that serves the nearby Elbe Einkaufszentrum (shopping mall). If you are coming by train, take the S-Bahn line S1/S11 to Klein-Flottbek. Then take the bus no. 21 in the direction “Niendorf Nord”. Exit after two stops at “Hemmingstedter Weg". We highly recommend the use of the DB Navigator App or the HVV App for mobile devices, which is convenient for planning trips by trains and other public transport. The International School of Hamburg offers a voluntary transportation service to its students: Two school buses, run by the local Hamburg Transportation Department (HVV) go around the outer Alster region of Hamburg. They stop at regular bus stops but are only available to our students. Below, you will find a map with the approximate area covered by our two busses. For information on the cost of the bus and/or the route, please contact Admissions as it differs every year based on how many students want to use the service. ISH features a designated drop-off zone in front of the main entrance. For those who need to park for longer, there is a school parking lot with designated spaces for parents. In addition, there is an overflow car park 200 meters further down the road. If you come by car, we recommend avoiding the rush hours in the morning (8:10-8:30) and afternoon (14:50-15:15). The Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg is the second largest city in Germany, after the capital of Berlin. The city is, indeed, famous for its tolerance and open-mindedness - symbolized by the gate in its crest, which has earned it the title "Tor zur Welt" (gateway to the world) and was voted one of the world's most liveable cities.
