You’ve worked hard for your dream and are now considering which doctor of physical therapy graduate schools to attend. We know that students always wonder whether or not they are qualified. You don’t have time for guesswork. That’s why we’ve made it easy by outlining our admission requirements.
If you're interested in applying to our program, applications for the next cohort (beginning in January 2027) open June 16, 2025. Your application must be verified by PTCAS and available for review by our admissions committee no later than April 1, 2026. The earlier you complete the requirements, the better. All required application materials (transcripts, etc.) must be submitted directly to PTCAS. We operate on a rolling admissions process.
PTCAS application
Wingate University uses the
Physical Therapy Centralized Application Service

Submit an official degree transcript
You must earn a bachelor’s degree or higher from a

If you’re admitted into the program with your baccalaureate degree pending, you’ll be considered provisionally admitted until your degree is awarded.
Prerequisites
Each applicant must complete the following 11 prerequisite courses to be considered for the Wingate University DPT program. For applications to be eligible for consideration, applicants must be within two outstanding prerequisites.
These must be completed even if they were not part of your baccalaureate degree course of study. No exceptions. All prerequisite coursework should have a grade of “C” or higher; a grade of "B" or higher is preferred.
If you’ve attended an institution that awards a quarter or other means of reporting coursework hours, you must have completed what our admissions committee deems to be an approximate equivalent to the semester hours shown for each course.
Submit your official GRE score
Graduate Review Examination (GRE) scores are not required, however, if submitted, GRE scores within five years of the anticipated date of enrollment will be considered. GRE scores should be submitted directly to PTCAS.

There are currently about 254 accredited DPT programs in the US, but there is only one in which I am proud to call home, Wingate’s DPT program. Our program is comprised of a staff of professors who take the extra step everyday to ensure that they are providing the best possible education to develop us into clinicians that will stand apart from the rest. They utilize their expertise to provide us the foundation and skills that allow us to be the next generation of physical therapists that will revolutionize our profession. More importantly, they care. They care about us as individuals, not just students, and this shows in everything they do. We are family in this program and we strive to do our best to not only take care of one another, but our community as well. I am proud to be a graduate of Wingate University’s DPT program and will always be a part of this family.

DPT Diversity Admissions Statement
Wingate University DPT seeks students who are highly qualified academically and have diverse backgrounds and experiences that will enrich our program and the physical therapy profession. It is important for the department and the future of our profession that our student body reflect the diverse and ever-changing needs of society. To help meet the department’s globally-focused mission, it is essential that students are able to learn from each other and from each individual’s unique experiences, characteristics and perspectives. Therefore,to the extent permitted by law, the department intentionally seeks a wide range of student populations that encompass a broad spectrum of characteristics including geographic origins, social and economic backgrounds, age, races and ethnicities, viewpoints, special talents, veteran status and personal achievements. The assessment of personal achievements shall take into account a prospective student's circumstances and obstacles that she or he has been faced with or has overcome.
Enrollment in a Wingate University Levine College of Health Sciences program requires current and appropriate legal immigration status with United States Citizenship and Immigration Services of the United States Department of Homeland Security. Current and appropriate legal immigration statuses include United States citizenship, United States lawful permanent residence, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) status, Temporary Protected Status (TPS), and other legal immigration statuses that allow participation in lawful study at Wingate University and employment authorization in the United States. Applicants must demonstrate current and appropriate legal immigration status to Wingate University authorities.
Many programs require clinical placements at third party health care facilities as a graduation requirement. Although Wingate University uses its best efforts to place all students in a clinical setting, Wingate University cannot guarantee that the third party health care facility will permit students without U.S. citizenship or permanent residency to complete their training at the facility. Additionally, postgraduate employment in the United States in health sciences occupations normally requires that applicants pass national exams, obtain state licensure, and demonstrate authorization for employment in the United States. Criteria for eligibility for national exams and/or to qualify for state licensure are set by national boards and each state. It is the responsibility of each prospective Levine College of Health Sciences student to consult the requirements of national boards and the licensing authority in each state in which they plan to pursue employment to determine the qualifications for licensure and their eligibility to become licensed. National and state licensure requirements are subject to change.
Wingate University Vaccination Policy
North Carolina law requires persons attending a college or university, whether public, private or religious, to present a Certificate of Immunization for certain immunizations, including the following:
Diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis
Polio
Measles
Mumps
Rubella
Hepatitis B (Hep B)
Varicella
Meningococcal conjugate (MenACWY)
Reasonable accommodations will be made for students with verifiable medical or religious reasons. Medical exemptions can only be requested by a physician licensed to practice medicine in North Carolina who has a known relationship with the student. To claim a religious exemption, the person requesting the exemption must write a statement of their bona fide religious objection to immunization, including the name and date of birth. Students who submit false documentation or knowingly submit false information in pursuit of this exemption are in violation of the Wingate Honor Code and will be subject to discipline.
Important Statement and Disclaimer for Health Science Students. Although Wingate University will consider all bona fide vaccine exemption requests, many healthcare partners and clinical rotation sites nevertheless require the immunizations set forth above, in addition to CDC-recommended immunizations such as influenza and COVID-19. Therefore, if you seek an immunization exemption request, please be advised that it may affect clinical placement and delay your progression through the program. Although Wingate will use reasonable efforts to place all students in their desired, and required, clinical placements, there is an increasing likelihood that clinical sites will not permit unvaccinated students (even with a religious or medical exemption) to participate in the clinical program. Wingate cannot guarantee that you will successfully progress through the program without all required immunizations.
