CHURGE
The Centre for Human Rights and Gender Education (CHURGE) of the Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun was established in December, 2005 as an autonomous training, service and research Centre in the University having been registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission and saddled with the responsibilities to:
a. Create awareness on Human Rights and Gender Education
The Centre engages in training and intervention programmes to equip students, staff and citizens with adequate knowledge in Human Rights, Gender Education. Similarly, the Centre teaches how to reduce conflicts being generated as a result of lack of knowledge of individual rights by those in government, the governed and the overzealous law enforcement agencies who sometimes misuse the power bestowed on them. The Centre collaborate with appropriate agencies and organizations to organize conferences, seminars and workshop on contemporary issues in Human Rights and Gender related issues with the ultimate goals of creating necessary awareness towards the World Sustainable Development Goals’ objectives. Our main objective is to join league of Agencies and Organizations working in concert with the United Nations in envisioning a world where human rights as well as gender equality is legally protected, revered and obeyed globally.
b. Train for Capacity Building
The Centre employ enormous human resources (as an Institution of global excellence) to train and prepare prospective trainees in humanitarian services of peace, conflict and refugee management in order to enhance development of world peace, and to fundamentally transform the landscape of human rights and gender equality in Nigeria and globally. We connect with local and international organizations and agencies in capacity building programmes, research, consultancy services in advocacy projects, bill drafting, health intervention projects including taking part in refugee management, peace keeping and conflict resolution missions of the United Nations, African Union and ECOWAS.
c. Run Professional and Academic Programmes of Study
The Centre is adequately empowered to offer academic programmes on full-time and part-time basis leading to award of Ordinary and Advanced Executives Certificates, Postgraduate Diploma, Master of Arts, Master of Philosophy and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in the under listed courses;
Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Skills in collaboration with Ogun Multi Door CourtHouse, Ogun State Judiciary (OMDC).

Our curricular are designed towards producing specialized graduates with basic practical skills and high level human capital resources in humanitarian services, peace keeping, gender education and election management and observation.
d. Provide Internal and External Linkages for Partnership and Affiliations
The Centre have linkages with local, international agencies and organizations in the discharge of our duties within the spectrum of the cardinal principles of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We harness every opportunity to actively engage staff and volunteers in local and international engagement in advocacy services, enlightenment campaigns, election monitoring, peace keeping and refugee management with necessary incentives.

Management of the Centre
The Centre has effective and purposeful Management team to actively drive the vision needed for professional expertise and commitment to efficient working. In addition to the Board of trustees comprising eminent Nigerians from different professional background, the Centre also has a Management Board, headed by the Vice-Chancellor having other members representing various interests within the University. The Board meets quarterly or as need may arise to advise the University Council and Senate through the Vice-Chancellor on general policies regarding academic and funding activities of the Centre. The Management of the Centre see to the implementations of Board policies concerning the Centre. The Board also from time to time advise the Vice-Chancellor on matters bothering on staffing and facilities to enable the Centre carry out its obligations and functions effectively.
