Past Events — Kanien'kehá:ka Onkwawén:na Raotitióhkwa Language and Cultural Center PAST EVENTS SOAP STONE CARVING WORKSHOP AUGUST 15, 2024 The Arts & Archives Department held a Soap Stone Caring workshop with instructor Jason Sikoak. The 20+ participants were giving a kit with either a bear, wolf or turtle starter stone to practice carving, shaping and smoothing the stone of their choice. MOOSE HAIR EMBROIDERY WORKSHOP JULY 29, 2024 The Arts and Archives Department at KORLCC hosted a Moose Hair Embroidery workshop with instructor Craig Commanda. GRANT WRITING WORKSHOP JULY 18 & 25, 2024 The Arts & Archives Department invited Yes Montreal to offer a 2-day grant writing workshop for local artists. They discussed various funding opportunities, writing tips and proper budgeting when preparing to submit an application. BEADING WORKSHOP JULY 19, 2024 The Arts and Archives Department at KORLCC hosted a geometric beading workshop with instructor Craig Commanda. GO SKATE DAY - SKATEBOARDING CAMP JUNE 21, 2024 The Arts and Archives Department at KORLCC held a skateboarding camp on International Go Skate Day. 12 youths from Kahnawake participated and each went home with a board from our Skateboard Project . Thank you to Adam Delisle of KSCS, who stopped by the Kahnawake skatepark to help facilitate the day and to Messy Kitchen for providing us with lunch. APRIL TO JUNE 2024 PAINTING WORKSHOP 10 Class Painting Workshop with Jessica Loft. Participants learned all the steps from making a frame, stretching their canvas, making color paints. From scratch to a finished painting. MARCH 4 -8, 2024 FILMMAKING CAMP The Arts and Archives Department at KORLCC held a week long filmmaking camp. TRADITIONAL SINGING CLASS FEBRUARY 1, 2024 Traditional Singing Class. Hosted By: Tsi Kanawaie’kó:wa Ronterennótha’. BASKET MAKING JANUARY 23, 2024 Chelsea Phillips offered a 4-day Basket Making Class at KORLCC. QUILLWORK WORKSHOP NOVEMBER 13, 2023 Kiera Pyke offered a 4-day Quillwork Workshop at KORLCC.
