The athletic program features sports and recreational activities ranging from outdoor adventure and fitness for middle school students to a competitive sports program for student-athletes that wish to compete against other schools with a similar-size enrollment. DA is a member of the Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA) and the Mile High League. The majority of our coaches are full- or part-time teachers during the school day at Denver Academy which promotes the bonds between student-athletes and their coaches. Athletics Photos View All 6th Grade & Middle School Sports Middle School (Grades 7-8) Sports are offered as elective courses each quarter with games after school. Middle School Sports start when each quarter begins. Visit the Middle School Academics page for details. Sixth-grade students will have the opportunity to play sports matching the athletic seasons of our middle school students. Our sixth graders will have the option to join these sports during their P.E. class and also for after-school games two to three times a week. Students will sign-up during P.E. and will be charged an athletics fee. High School Spring Sports 2025-26 High School eSports Season Dates: February 9 to May 29, 2026 High school eSports provides students with the opportunity to compete in organized, team-based video game competitions in a structured and supervised environment. Students will represent DA in league play against other schools while developing strategic thinking, communication, and teamwork skills. Head Coach: Ryan Stander High School Baseball Season Dates: February 23 to May 29, 2026 High School Baseball is an exciting and competitive spring sport that focuses on skill development, teamwork, and personal growth. Student-athletes participate in regular practices designed to build fundamentals, including hitting, fielding, pitching, base running, and situational awareness to prepare for games in the Mile High League. Head Coach: Al Bleser High School Coed Track & Field Season Dates: February 23 to May 29, 2026 High School Track & Field is a dynamic and inclusive spring sport with opportunities for athletes of all ability levels to compete and improve. Students may participate in a wide range of events, including sprints, distance running, relays, hurdles, jumps, and throws. DA competes in meets in the Mile High League. Since then, she has been a DA Middle School homeroom teacher, volleyball, basketball and track coach, and is now the Lower School Athletic Director. Prior to DA, she taught fitness curriculum to physical education teachers in Denver Public Schools. Ashley holds bachelor’s degrees in Family and Consumer Sciences from Colorado State University and Human and Sports Performance from Metro State University. When she’s not teaching, she enjoys being outside with friends and family, traveling, and pursuing creative hobbies. She loves the DA community and its awesome students. Mark Leadbetter High School Athletic Director Read Bio Mark Leadbetter serves as the Athletic Director at Denver Academy. He brings a strong background in education and athletics, having served as a high school teacher, athletic director, and coach at the high school, club, and collegiate levels. He has also worked with regional youth sports organizations and coached with the Olympic Development Program. His coaching experience includes the collegiate level, serving as Head Women’s Club Soccer Coach at Regis University. Mr. Leadbetter holds a bachelor’s degree in education from Miami University and a master’s degree in Sports Management from Colorado State University. He is passionate about using athletics to help students grow in confidence, leadership, and resilience—on and off the field. Outside of school, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two kids, running local trails, reading, and watching and playing as many sports as possible. Find Us 4400 E.
