Tips for Mature Students
I had some troubles initially with the fees, but received a scholarship grant, and so I made it; I finally made it to IIT.
Kenneth
We prepare our students with the right knowledge, skill and attitude of a competent technician.
IIT Lagos
Being a student of IIT is like a dream come true. Even though I am on a scholarship, I still find it hard to survive. But I go to school everyday filled with hope. It is part of the things you get when you are in IIT, Hope.

Tips for Mature Students
The following tips will be useful:
The programme is not only tough but stressful because we run an immersive instructional model.
Try to study at the end of each day at IIT before you go home for the day. If possible, study at the early hours of the day.
Do not miss classes for any reason. You might likely not catchup. If you are to miss classes due to extra ordinary reasons, kindly inform your instructor beforehand.
For married students, ensure your wife/husband is aware that you are about to start this training. This is because you will likely not have time for anything outside this training once it starts.
Always find time to rest properly.
For parttime students, you will have to consider permanent night shift at your workplace in order to undergo the training.
Ensure to take down instructions during class. Textbooks, manuals and online resources are for consultations.
Ensure you are fully involved in the practicals and seek more practicals from the instructor (where possible). There are always more practical exercises but it will only be issued if the required practicals have been completed.
Always carry your class representative along.
Remember that the focus is to learn – Although you have to pass the assessments. If you feel that you haven’t properly understood a module, for a fulltime student – you can join the parttime class to retake the module (but not to sit for the assessment only), for a parttime student – you can join the fulltime class. At no extra cost.
