About the Council
The Town Council has 15 democratically elected Councillors covering four wards across the Town. Councillors are usually elected for a four-year term and attend meetings at the Council’s headquarters in Garth Park, that cover Planning, Policy, Environment and Finance, and Town Council Meetings.
The Town Council also organises various community activities and events, including Summer Concerts, Family Fun Days, Remembrance Day Service and Parade, Christmas Lights Switch-On and the Mayor's Charity Santa Fun Run.
About Your Councillor
Your local councillor is elected by the residents to represent them on the Town Council. They are representatives of the major political parties, or are independent. They are not full time paid officials, and are only given a very small annual allowance. They have very important role in
representing the views of the local residents
about just about everything that goes on in our town.
