Introducing August Wood, Featured Artist for the 48th S’edav Va’aki Museum Indian Market. A
ugust is an enrolled member of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community (SRPMIC). He is Diné, Tohono O'Odham, and Akimel O'Odham.
August learned traditional basket making from Sally Antone, of the Ak-Chin Indian Community, and traditional pottery making with the late Ron Carlos, (SRPMIC).
Natural materials for baskets and pottery are gathered in nature and processed by hand to make these beautiful baskets and pots.

av Va’aki Museum Foundation (formerly the Friends of Pueblo Grande Museum) was incorporated in February 1981 to serve as an advisory group for the Museum.

What's in our Name
In March of 2023, the Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department voted unanimously to change the name of Pueblo Grande Museum and Archaeological Park to S'e
d
av Va'aki Museum, declaring that this site and the entirety of central Arizona is the ancestral home of the O'Odham people (Salt River, Gila River, Ak-Chin Indian Communities and the Tohono O'odham Nation) who are Federally recognized tribes in Arizona.
