Admission to ATBU
In addition to the entry requirements specific to the individual Departments, the following are the general entry requirements for the first degree courses at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi.
Entry through the Unified Tertiary Examination (UTME)
Applicants must write the Universities Matriculation Examination (U.M.E) and attain an acceptable standard in English (compulsory) and three other subjects relevant to the proposed study as specified in the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board Brochure
For a candidate who has attained the acceptable standard in the U.T.M.E to be granted permission to register at the University, he/she must obtain the following qualifications and requirements:
A. Five credit passes in the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) or the School Certificate/General Certificate of Education Ordinary Level (SC/GCE ‘O’ Level) or equivalent relevant to the course of study and must be obtained at not more than two (2) sittings.
B. Candidates must be of good behaviour as attested by his school Principal.
C. Any other requirements as specified by the University Senate.
Direct Entry Through JAMB
Applicants with one of the following qualifications may be considered for admission by direct entry when they fill the JAMB DE form.
A minimum of two relevant advance level of the GCE or any other recognised similar examination body, and others at credit level.
Passes in two major relevant subjects in the NCE and ND. Candidates must have the relevant number of ‘O’ Level credits or equivalent for entry into such courses initially.
Two passes at the IJMB Examination or any other recognised institution moderated school of basic studies with ‘O’ Level credits or equivalent in the relevant subjects as specified by the proposed academic programme.
Any other requirement specified by the University Senate.
