Augustana’s Center for Western Studies Publishes Collection of Essays Documenting History of Missouri River
The Center for Western Studies (CWS) at Augustana University has published its latest book titled “The Missouri, America’s Longest River: A Cultural and Environmental History,” edited by Drs. Jon K. Lauck and Harry F. Thompson. The official launch of “The Missouri” will take place at the 58th annual Dakota Conference on the Northern Plains on Thursday, April 23, and Friday, April 24.

Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program
Award, which provides American college and university students with the opportunity to study cultures and languages essential to U.S. global engagement. The media production & entrepreneurship and music double major will spend eight weeks in Okayama, Japan, intensively studying the Japanese language and culture.
Augustana to Bring Excitement, Hockey Cheer to Midco Arena
Augustana University will soon be home to one of the first hockey cheer programs in South Dakota. Augustana Hockey Cheer will officially be added to the university’s list of club sports offerings in Fall 2026 and will support its NCAA Division I Viking Hockey Team and potentially, its club hockey teams during home games at Midco Arena.
AU Student Organization Partners With Make-A-Wish to Bring More Color to Ace’s Painting Party
Sponsored by Nyberg’s ACE, Augustana University will once again host Ace’s Painting Party on Sunday, April 26, from 3-5 p.m. — an annual tradition that allows area community members to paint the ice at Midco Arena. This year, the Augustana Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will be putting on the event, which will provide an opportunity for Augustana’s student-athletes and the community to come together to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
