View a lasting power of attorney
Companies and organisations can use this online service to check who the attorneys are on a valid lasting power of attorney (
LPA
).
You can only use this service for LPAs registered on or after 1 January 2016 and in England or Wales.

What you’ll get
You get a one page summary of the
LPA
which includes:
if it’s still valid and registered
the donor’s name, address and date of birth
the attorneys’ names, addresses and dates of birth
how decisions are made by the attorneys
the donor’s restrictions and conditions (sometimes known as ‘instructions and preferences’)
You can also download a copy of the
LPA
summary as a PDF.
Before you start
To view the
LPA
summary, you’ll need the attorney or donor to
generate an access code online
for you.
An access code has 13 characters and starts with V. You’ll need a different access code to view each health and welfare or property and finance
LPA
If the attorney does not have an access code
If the
LPA
was registered before 1 January 2016, the attorney or donor cannot generate an access code. They will need to show you the registered paper
LPA
or a certified copy of it instead.
View the

Enter the donor’s surname and the access code.
Check the donor’s name and
LPA
type are correct.
Give the name of your company or organisation.
There will be a record of your company or organisation name and the date so the donor and any other attorneys can see when and how the
LPA
is being used.
