From Beyond the Block: Art Quilters of the Gorge
CGDCM is thrilled to host an extraordinary quilted art exhibition, GORGE LIFE, from the local fiber art group Beyond the Block: Art Quilters of the Gorge. This temporary exhibit is a collection of quilted artworks that reveal personal experiences, impressions, memories, and impactful moments of sixteen artists who call the Gorge home.
Beyond the Block: Art Quilters of the Gorge has been creating and exhibiting artwork from fabric and thread for more than a decade, employing a myriad of techniques and artistic styles to bring their inspiring images to life. From landscapes and wildlife to abstract symbolism and interpretations, their work expresses unique glimpses of life in the Gorge.

Art Carroll
1935–2025
Art Carroll will be remembered as a longtime and passionate steward of the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center and Museum. He was instrumental in securing the federal funding to help build the Discovery Center while he served as the U.S. Forest Service Area. After retirement, he served as a dedicated and active Board member and advisor from 2011 until his passing. He will be deeply missed by us all.

Every Tuesday and Thursday at 2pm
Every Saturday and Sunday at 11am and 2pm

It’s officially springtime! Liberty has laid her eggs, and the eagles are hard at work defending their nest. In an effort to keep them as stress-free as possible, we are not taking people down to see them in person. We will resume eagle tours on April 21st.
Their eggs are infertile, so we will not be getting any baby eaglets. We still allow them to express their natural nesting behaviors, however! The eggs will be removed at the end of their typical incubation period, about 35 days after being laid.
If you watch them on the live cam in the Explorer Room, you might get a chance to see the eggs themselves or watch Ferguson dote on Liberty by bringing her food!
Thank you for your understanding! We look forward to opening tours again next month.
