Develop the Skills That Matter Most
Do you find English, Maths, or using a computer hard? Does it stop you from feeling confident at work or in daily life? Our beginner courses are here to help you.
We know that reading, writing, and maths can be difficult. You’re not alone. Many people also feel unsure about computers and new technology. That’s okay, everyone starts somewhere.
Our basic skills courses can help you in simple, everyday ways. You can check your change in a shop, send messages to friends, and feel more confident looking for a job or moving up at work.
Our courses start every week and fit around your life. We have times for people who work and for parents too. You will learn at your own pace and work towards your own goals.
If you’re eligible, you may also get help with travel, money, and/or food through our Student Support Funds.
Community Centre Learning
We offer English, maths, and computer courses in community centres across Blackpool and the Fylde. This means you don’t have to travel far to learn new skills.

What students say about B&FC...
I enjoy coming to class. It's relaxing! I was a bit scared of coming but the teachers are good and speak to you normally and have a lot of patience.
Carl
I've learnt a lot. The teachers are nice and helpful and respect you. The bursary and food vouchers are really helpful to help me manage my budget.
Terry
The college is smaller here and the teacher is brilliant, in fact she's the best teacher. She's really helpful.
Paula
The teachers are helpful and explain things really well. The atmosphere is really friendly and the people in the class are non-judgemental.
Helen
At school the teachers made me feel stupid but not here. She explains it in a way that's understandable, so I get it and don't get overwhelmed.
Jake
