All paperwork
for the application (parent & student forms, recommendation forms, transcripts, and any financial aid or merit scholarship applications - if applicable), must be submitted by Jan 6. Completed applications will be reviewed by the Admissions Committee, and applicants and their families will be notified of a decision by January 16.
Early Decision
works much like it does at the college level: it is a binding commitment. For families who apply for need-based financial aid or merit scholarship, that commitment becomes final once they review and accept the net tuition determined through those processes.
Please note - if you foresee that a portion of the application will be late, contact the Admissions office prior to the deadline.
Regular Decision Deadline: February 6
All paperwork

After receiving an offer of admission, families typically have three weeks to finalize their enrollment decision.

Rolling Admission:
Applications received after February 6 for grade 9 will be evaluated on a rolling admission basis as space becomes available.

Financial aid
applications will need to be submitted concurrently with the application for enrollment to Gunston. If you are applying for early decision, the financial aid form will be due by Jan 6; regular decision applicants will have the financial aid form due by Feb 6. If applying for rolling admission, the financial aid form will be due at the same time as the application for enrollment. The same deadlines apply if you are applying for a
merit scholarship

The Gunston School online application has sections for both students and parents. The application does not need to be completed in one sitting; you will be able to start, stop, and resume at any time.

Note: If applying for financial aid,
Financial aid

Applicants will need to have recommendations submitted by: 1) a school administrator, 2) English teacher, 3) math teacher.

If you are having the teacher / administrator send in the recommendation by mail, it is customary to provide a stamped reply envelope addressed to:

The applicant's parent will need to request that the student's transcripts be sent directly to Gunston. This can be done in either of two ways:
a) Call, or send an email to, the applicant's current school counselor or registrar's office, and request that the following be sent to Gunston (the information below can be copied and pasted into your email request):
All progress reports from the current school year
Progress reports from the previous school year
Standardized test score
Attendance record

** NOTE: Neither of these tests are required for admission to Gunston. If the scores are submitted with the application, they will not be utilized in determining admission to Gunston.
