New Student Orientation

Welcome to Dickinson State University!
As a new student at Dickinson State University, we want to make sure you get off to
a great start. During our New Student Orientation sessions, you will get to meet with
faculty, staff, and students who all want you to succeed. As part of this process,
you will work with your advisor to register for your first semester of classes!
New Student Orientation
In-Person Sessions
DSU hosts New Student Orientation events where you you will meet with an advisor,
take placement exams if needed, register for classes, get your parking pass and student
ID, sign up for housing, talk to financial aid, meet other incoming students. Parents
and guardians will also get additional programming while their students are registering
for classes.

Frequently Asked Questions
Both event styles (on-demand and event) will provide you with everything you need
to have a good start. If you have a busy schedule, on-demand may be the best way to
schedule, or if have a more flexible schedule, you may want to try the event style.
Note that the event version of new student orientation is only available for students
starting in the fall semesters.
Any newly admitted first-year or transfer student will need to sign up for New Student
Orientation. This is how you will register for your first semester courses.
During your new student orientation session, you will meet with your advisor, learn
about important systems you will use while at DSU, and register for your first semester
courses.
YES! You should claim your NDUS student account, and complete your Financial Obligation
Agreement in Campus Connection. If you have any issues with either of these, please
give us a call (

) or send us an email at

.
We may recommend you take placement tests for English and/or math courses based on
conversations with your advisor. Whether you need to take these tests or not depends
on your math and English ACT or SAT subscores or applicable transfer credits. If we
recommend you take placement tests, you will need to take the Accuplacer Test.
