The Childhood Lead Prevention Program seeks to eliminate childhood lead poisoning by increasing awareness regarding the hazards and sources of lead, identifying and caring for children from birth through six years of age and women who are pregnant, who have elevated blood lead levels (EBLL) and identifying and eliminating sources of lead exposure.
The Childhood Lead Prevention Program Services:
Case management, including home visits from Community Lead Advocates and Nurse Case Managers
Lead testing to children under six years of age and women who are pregnant
Provide referrals to community and health care partners as well as referrals for lead abatement and inspection
Educate health care providers, community groups, and families
Lead Testing is available at the Detroit Health Department every Thursday at 8:30 AM to 5 PM.
