Teacher Resources
The Outreach Program at the Center for Latin American Studies provides various resources to help K-16 teachers integrate Latin America into their curriculum. Look through the below resources to learn more!
Traveling Suitcases
No passport required - the Traveling Suitcase program can bring Latin America to your classroom! These unique collections contain real artifacts from Latin America, reflecting thematic areas from the many cultures, traditions, and economies of the region. Educators may borrow these suitcases at no charge (though they are responsible for the cost of return shipping). Many teachers use them as a learning center, letting students handle items and discuss their uses.

Guest Speaker Program
Bring an international expert into your classroom with the LAS Guest Speaker Program! This free initiative can be integrated into your curriculum and engages students on topics related to Latin America, its cultures and its peoples.

Children's Literature Initiative
To promote Latin American Studies and improve literacy, the Center works with education colleges to integrate Américas Awards books in pre-service education courses to prepare future teachers with a global mindset.

Lending Library
Before 2014, the Outreach Program maintained a collection of more than 500 resources on Latin American and Caribbean topics in our Lending Library. In 2014, we decided to merge our collection with Tulane University's, in service of the larger Latin American Studies community.
The majority of the titles previously available through our Outreach Lending Library are now available through the
Roger Thayer Stone Center for Latin American Studies
. Browse the Stone Center’s resource materials and lending procedures on their web page linked above.
