Established in 1979, San Francisco Waldorf School is an independent Preschool through Twelfth Grade school located in the heart of San Francisco. We enroll approximately 270 students at our Pacific Heights campuses, which are home to our Preschool, Kindergarten, and Grades 1-8. Our High School in West Portal enrolls approximately 130 students.

Summary:
San Francisco Waldorf High School seeks an enthusiastic and experienced Humanities Teacher with a strong background in social sciences and literature. This teacher will have the ability to teach honors and non honors level courses on ancient texts, modern texts, sociology and history through an anti-racist lens while developing high-level reading and writing skills in 9th through 12th graders. Our ideal candidate excels at engaging a range of student abilities, is highly organized, has sound classroom management, sound teaching strategies and understands the developmental stages of high school students. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in social sciences required
Graduate degree preferred
Waldorf Teacher Training completed or in progress and/or willingness to begin Waldorf Teacher seminar (in-house)
Significant high school or university teaching experience and/or other experience working with adolescents
Ability to use the school portal (Blackbaud) for posting and tracking student assignments
Ability to evaluate using rubrics or demonstrate other equitable grading practices
Strong communication with all school stakeholders
Strong planning and organizational skill
A proven interest in engaging with high school students beyond the classroom: sponsoring clubs or an affinity group, chaperoning field trips and dances, general supervision and academic advising are some examples.

General Description
San Francisco Waldorf School seeks a full-time Spanish Teacher to teach Spanish to all students in Grades 1st–8th. Students in Grades 1st - 6th receive Spanish twice weekly; students in Grades 7th–8th receive Spanish three times weekly. The teacher will bring a dynamic, developmentally-appropriate, and culturally rich world-language program rooted in the pedagogy and developmental insights of Waldorf education.
The ideal candidate is a fluent Spanish speaker with a deep love of language, a commitment to engaging students through imaginative and experiential learning, and the organizational skill to manage a multi-grade teaching schedule.
Teaching Responsibilities
Teach Spanish classes for Grades 1–8, following the developmental arc of language learning in a Waldorf school.
Create a vibrant curriculum that includes stories, songs, poetry, movement, games, dialogues, drama, grammar, reading, and writing appropriate to each grade level.
Teach historical and geographical awareness of the Spanish speaking world.
Develop an evolving middle-school curriculum that builds conversational skills, reading comprehension, grammar accuracy, and cultural appreciation.
Prepare lesson plans, student work, assessments, and reports according to school standards.
Cultivate joy, wonder, and curiosity in the classroom, fostering a positive relationship to language learning.
Lead and coordinate the school’s annual Dia de los Muertos celebration and other cultural observances
Consistent positive classroom management with a variety of ages.
Consistent record keeping of student progress.
Classroom Culture & Student Support
Establish inclusive, respectful, and culturally affirming classroom environments.
Differentiate instruction to meet a range of learning styles and abilities.
Implement accommodations in collaboration with the class teacher and Director of Student Support Services.
Collaborate with class teachers and student support faculty when indicated.
Observe and respond to student needs through both a developmental and pedagogical lens.

OVERVIEW
San Francisco Waldorf School seeks a
full-time Middle School Math Teacher
to join our faculty for the 2026–27 school year. This position teaches mathematics in
Grades 6, 7, and 8
, working with students during a formative period when curiosity, logic, and independent thinking come alive.
The teaching load includes approximately
18 class periods per week
. Class periods are
45–50 minutes
in length. The middle school math curriculum moves from advanced arithmetic through pre-algebra, culminating in
Algebra I by the end of Grade 8

Responsibilities:
Our kindergarten classrooms are mixed-age environments grounded in consistent daily and seasonal rhythms, rich imaginative play, storytelling, meaningful work, and regular outdoor time in all seasons. Festivals and seasonal celebrations are an essential part of our school life and are supported through close collaboration among the kindergarten faculty.
Each kindergarten class typically enrolls 16–20 children, and all classes with more than 10 students are supported by an assistant teacher, allowing for attentive care and strong relationships with each child.

This is a part-time, non-exempt, hourly position
The San Francisco Waldorf Grade School Afterschool Program is looking for a part-time Aftercare Aide to begin late August 2026. Hours range from 11:30pm - 5:30pm, Monday through Friday.
Summary:
The Aftercare Aide is an essential role for Kindergarten through 6th Grade children at the school, for creating a daily and weekly rhythm that gives them the opportunity to partake in play, rest, snack, and outdoor activities.
The Aftercare Director will provide guidance and oversight for the Aide’s work with the children in the classroom and outdoor space.

Set up the Kindergarten rooms for rest time, creating a warm and welcoming environment for the children
Work alongside the Kindergarten Assistant, fellow Aftercare Staff or independently during rest and snack time
Hold a quiet late afternoon snack time
Help prepare one afternoon snack for the children
Supervise Kindergarten children during play time
Lead and engage in activities while supervising the Grades children such as drawing, crafting, sports and outdoor games
Clean-up of the classrooms, including wiping down surfaces, vacuuming, and emptying compost, etc.
Work during late winter and spring camps- one week each
Clean-up the play yard, together with the children
Desired Experience:
1-2 years experience working with children indoors, outdoors or in a classroom setting is required
Bachelors in Education preferred
Waldorf Teacher Trained (or in process) preferred
Applicants must be familiar with and interested in Waldorf education
Good communication skills with colleagues
Must have an interest in engaging children in crafts, drawing, circus related activities games, and other activities, both indoors and outdoors
Must be able to work independently as well as collaboratively on a team with guidance from Kindergarten Faculty, Kindergarten Aftercare Coordinator and After School Program Director
CPR/First Aid certified
Compensation and Benefits: $29.00 per hour
This is a part-time, non-exempt, hourly position. Benefits include those offered by the City of San Francisco, such as the San Francisco Sick Paid Sick Leave and San Francisco Health Care Ordinance. School ends on June 3 , 2027. This position does not continue during the summer break. Opportunities to work during summer camps may be available. School breaks and Holidays are unpaid.

: The San Francisco Waldorf High School seeks an enthusiastic, detail-oriented Registrar for the 2026-2027 school year. The High School Registrar is responsible for the production, organization, and maintenance of student records, course/class scheduling, and database management. The Registrar also works directly with the College Counselor, High School Director, and the high school front office. This position is a hands-on, organizationally demanding role with ample room for input, creativity, and responsibility for larger projects.

Responsibilities include:
Production, Organization, and Maintenance of Student Records
Set up scheduling in Blackbaud before each school year.
Registration of high school students into their classes: create, send, and process Google Forms to collect enrollment requests for Senior Academic Electives, Performing Arts, World Language, Art Electives, and Co-curricular Electives.
Coordinate with faculty/HS Director to form class lists; create course sections, and enroll students in classes; create individual student schedules.
On-going maintenance of student and family records in the database (mid-year transfer students, exchange students, drop/adds, etc)
Database entry of other student records including attendance, courses, grades, student evaluation reports, community service hours, student activities, medical and emergency information, vital statistics, etc.
Generate Official Transcripts and various reports from the database
Coordinate and oversee the proofing of quarterly Student Evaluation Reports, working on the Proofing Team, format the reports, and publish to families.
Submit yearly seniors’ GPAs to CA Dept. of Education for CalGrant.
Assistance with College Counseling Activities
Provide the College Counselor with student records as needed
Manage SFWHS’s UC A-G List in coordination with the College Counselor, to ensure SFWHS courses meet UC/CSU articulation requirements and are updated as needed, enlisting the help of teachers for course submissions.
Manage SFWHS’s NCAA Courses List, updating as necessary
Prepare instructional documents to assist seniors in filling out college applications (UC/CSU/Common App, etc)
Assist College Counselor in presenting college application workshops for seniors. Meet with some seniors individually, as needed, to work on college applications (ie: assist College Counselor)
General Office and Staff Responsibilities
Preparation and sending of correspondence related to student records
Timely communications to faculty/staff/families as needed
Contribute to planning the yearly calendar, weekly bell schedule, yearly main lesson rotation, art block rotations, and co-curricular electives.
Create shared documents representing the above items (HS Weekly Schedule, Main Lesson Rotation, Art Block Schedules, Health/Study Skills/Eurythmy Block, Co-curricular Elective blocks) to be posted on campus and on MySFWS Resource Boards (the school portal) for faculty/staff/students/parents.
Email management: receive, send, and respond to communications in a timely manner
Process and maintain records of Teacher Letters of Concern (email communications sent on behalf of the teachers to parents. )
Support attendance processes as needed.
Support at on-campus events.
Specific Computer Experience Required
: Familiarity with PC format (Windows); database work (Blackbaud experience is a definite plus);, Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Suite (particularly Google Sheets, Docs, and Forms).
The skills needed are: excellent communication, organizational, database, and computer skills; high attention to detail in order to maintain thorough and accurate student records; facility collaborating with fellow administrative staff, teachers, parents/guardians, and teenage students in particular; ability to work in a busy environment and work effectively with multiple tasks. The Registrar works in direct partnership with the High School Administrative Coordinator, the College Counselor, the HS Administrative Assistant, and works with and reports to the High School Director.

Overview:
San Francisco Waldorf School is seeking a Lead Preschool Teacher for a part-time, three-day-per-week position beginning immediately. This role is ideal for a trained Waldorf Early Childhood educator who is enthusiastic about working with young children in a nurturing, play-based, and rhythmically structured environment. The Lead Preschool Teacher will work closely with the assistant teacher to provide a cohesive and supportive experience for children and families.
This position is part of our continued commitment to offering high-quality early childhood education while accommodating a flexible workweek.
Responsibilities
Leading the Preschool class and holding the rhythm of the day, week, and season. This includes indoor and outdoor play, storytelling, painting, birthdays, crafts, snacks, and rest.
Create and maintain a beautiful and organized classroom space, including seasonal nature table.
Observe and recommend specific movement and or activities for each child, such as using the swing, balancing, jumping, walking, etc.
Oversee daily operation, solve staffing problems, guide and evaluate assistant teacher.
Help set up and maintain the attendance rosters and the various program rosters.
Oversee maintenance of hiking lists, fruit/flower/protein snack lists, and general logistics of parent involvement.
Help the director in preparing two “Welcome to Waldorf” enrollment events and at least four play dates with prospective students and families.
Assist the director with the review of applications, individual interviews with parents, and observing children.
Attend/facilitate the parent-teacher conferences for the children in the Lead Preschool Teacher’s program at least twice a year and as needed.
Help coordinate/lead the Parent Work Day, Parent Evenings, Preschool Festivals, and other special events.
Act as liaison with the Swedenborgian Church staff.
Help to close the classroom for summer and prepare the classroom for the new school year.
Other Responsibilities
Participate in all school faculty meetings at the beginning of the school year in August and at the end of the school year at both the GS and HS based on FTE school guidelines

Qualifications:
The Preschool Lead Teacher is required to have either a Child Development Site Supervisor Permit OR a Child Development Program Director permit issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing OR provide proof of high school graduation or GED and 15 semester units at an accredited college in specified early childhood education classes. Three of the required units shall be in administration or staff relations and 12 units shall include courses that cover the area of child growth and development; child, family and community; and program/ curriculum and four years of teaching experience in a licensed center or comparable group child care program.
The Lead Preschool Teacher should have completed the Waldorf Early Childhood Teacher Training.
At least 2 years of Waldorf teaching experience are required. The Lead Preschool Teacher will have knowledge, awareness, and commitment to Waldorf education and philosophy as well enthusiasm for working and being with young children.
Compensation:
This is a part-time, 0.6FTE, salaried position. Benefits include dental and vision insurance, life insurance, flexible spending plans, retirement plan (employer contributions begin after one year of employment), and pro-rated (based on FTE) tuition remission for eligible dependents in our Preschool - Grade 12 program (Staff fees apply). The full 1 FTE annual salary range is $60K - $95K depending on training and experience. It will be prorated for less than a full 1 FTE. Salaries are paid on a 12-month schedule.

Summary:
The Preschool Program Assistant at San Francisco Waldorf School is a trained Waldorf Early Childhood teacher or currently enrolled in the Waldorf Teacher Training Program. The assistant should understand Preschool school life as well as have an interest in the school as a whole. In order to create a harmonious environment, flexibility, presence, and a cooperative spirit are essential for the children to receive the teacher and
assistant as a guiding unit.
Responsibilities include:
Holding the class with a sense of order and rhythm
Attending to the physical, emotional, and individual needs of the young children (2-4 years old)
Creating and maintaining classroom mood
Supervising indoor/outdoor play, clean–up time, bathroom, hand washing, etc.
Caring for and preparation of classroom materials
Planning and preparing weekly snacks and keeping track of snack supplies
Organizing and carrying out special activities and helping with craft projects
Participating in circle time by learning and sharing seasonal poems, songs and stories
Attends parent conferences as requested by lead teacher
Hours and Meetings:
The Preschool Assistant will be in school from 7:45 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. every weekday and on selected weekend hours before and/or after holiday breaks for cleaning and new seasonal set-ups. The Assistant is expected to attend weekly Preschool meetings, weekly Grade School faculty meetings, monthly Early Childhood meetings, and quarterly all-faculty meetings. Attendance at these meetings helps the Assistant become an integral member of the faculty. The meetings also help provide a shared plan for our work together and with the children. The Preschool Program Assistant will help the teacher in the preparation of the classroom at the beginning of the school year and in the clean-up at the end of the school year. The Assistant needs to be present at parent evenings, enrollment events and at parent teacher conferences when needed.
Qualifications:
Waldorf Teacher Training completed or in progress
12 Early Childhood Education units (ECEs) completed or in progress
California law requires fingerprinting and TB Assessment. Preschool Program teachers need to comply with the requirements set forth by the State of California licensing standards (Early Childhood Education coursework, CPR training and required vaccinations).

General Description
The position of the hourly Preschool Aide provides additional support to the preschool teachers. The position also gives the aide an opportunity to gain experience with children in the context of the preschool and to glean understanding for the job by observing the teacher at work.
Hours: Daily from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Additional hours need to be approved in advance by Lead Preschool Teacher and Grade School Chair.
General Responsibilities
The aide supports the preschool teachers in maintaining a harmonious and orderly preschool classroom. This includes assisting in all facets of preschool room activities, helping to carry out daily rhythms and leading groups of children or individuals in activities based on the preschool teacher’s indications. The aide displays respect for the authority of the preschool teachers and maintains professional attire and image. The
aide also displays discretion about all matters pertaining to the preschool and holds boundaries of confidentiality in all communication and refers parents to lead teacher to answer questions or to address concerns. The aide should be able to manage their time to finish projects within the time allotted.
Examples of Duties
Assists the teachers with the supervision of students who may exhibit emotional or behavioral challenges
Supervises students when teacher is occupied with other students or when directed by lead teacher to work with individuals or groups of students
Supervises students during recess, snack, or lunchtime periods

Overview
The Preschool After Care Aide is an essential role in the day of many children at the school. The Aide is responsible for the Preschool children who attend after Care, following a daily and weekly rhythm that gives these children the opportunity to partake in rest, appropriate activities, and time to play and relax after a long school morning. The aide is also responsible helping to arrange a healthy, late afternoon snack.

This is a part-time, on-call, hourly position.
Overview
The Substitute Piano Accompanist supports our Eurythmy Teachers by playing pieces provided by the teachers to support sequential movement routines 1st through 8th grades.
The Pianist will be accompanying up to 17 eurythmy sessions per week and possible rehearsals and evening performances (as-needed).
Qualifications:
Classical repertoire fluency, intermediate - advanced playing level
Good site reading skills is helpful for medium level selections
Reliable, on-time
Ability to attend closely to teacher direction
