FAQs
Answers to common questions about our program
Can I schedule an individual campus visit?
Yes. Individual visits can be arranged by calling our office at 414-464-9777. Our Academic Dean will gladly meet with you and answer any questions you may have about our program. The Dean also maintains a list of student representatives who have volunteered to meet with prospective students.
When is the application deadline?
The deadline for admissions is January 17th for fall admission of that same year. Late applications will be considered on a space available basis.
How many years will it take me to complete the doctoral program?
The doctoral program at WSPP is a five-year full-time course of studies beyond the Bachelor’s degree. The first four years involve academic and practicum coursework while the fifth year is taken up by a full-time clinical internship and dissertation. Students entering WSPP must complete all requirements of the Psy.D. program including coursework, practicum, exams, internship, and dissertation within seven (7) years of the date of matriculation as a degree-status student.
Do I need a degree in psychology to apply?
No. Students must have a Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited school or university but the degree is
not
required to be in Psychology. If the Bachelor’s Degree is not in Psychology, our Admissions Committee has set specific course requirements as prerequisite to our program.
Students must have taken coursework in the following areas:
Introduction to Psychology
Statistics
Research Methods and Design
Developmental Psychology
Abnormal Psychology
Students lacking any of these courses will be asked to complete them at an undergraduate institution before entering the doctoral program.
Is financial aid available?
WSPP offers several scholarships and assistantships. In addition, WSPP participates in the Federal student loan program. Information about the financial aid options available to students can be found here:
