Geospatial Information
The need to view, create, or analyze geospatial information touches almost all academic disciplines.
In addition, computer and data scientists create the geographic information systems (GIS) that collect, manipulate and store geospatial data. The UCR Library provides support to students and researchers involved in these sought-after geospatial skill sets.
Library workshops and consultations related to geospatial mapping are available throughout the year. Additionally, the library hosts outreach events to inspire and connect GIS users at all levels of expertise.
GIS software is available for UCR affiliates on workstations in the
Scholarly Technology and Research (STAR) Lab
in Orbach Science Library.
You can find reference books for GIS, along with maps and atlases, in the library catalog. Our aerial photo collection covering portions of Riverside and San Bernardino counties dates back to 1938. These, along with maps covering the state of California, are housed in the Geospatial Resources section of Orbach Science Library. Maps and atlases for the rest of the world are managed by
Special Collections & University Archives
in Rivera Library.
