It is a collaborative project between the Asia Pacific Office of the IMF and the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS), with the generous financial support of the Japanese government. The JIMS is a one-week training program and held once a year at GRIPS campus, which is located at Roppongi, a trendy business center of Tokyo. The theme of 2025 JIMS is Macroeconomic Policy Management in a Fragmented World. The unprecedented globalization before 2018 had powered the growth of the world economy and generated tremendous wealth and employment. National economies of different continents have been integrated by extensive global value chains. However, in the post-pandemic era, geopolitical tensions and concerns on national security and excessive economic interdependence have been undermining economic cooperation and dividing nations into rival blocks. To date, inward-looking industrial policies and trade restrictions prevail over economic integration. The JIMS 2025 will invite distinguished academic scholars, senior economists of the IMF, Japanese government officials and practitioners of private sectors as the speakers to analyze the challenges faced by the world economy. The topics of the one-week training include world economic outlook, the transition in the monetary policies of Japan and the United States, quantitative and qualitative monetary easing, exchange rate management, building the resilience of global value chains, etc. Prof. Haruhiko Kuroda, former governor of the Bank of Japan, will be a guest-speaker of the JIMS 2025. The JIMS has established its reputation as a prestigious platform of macroeconomic policy dialogues in Japan for policy makers of Asia-Pacific countries. It is an excellent opportunity for debating macroeconomic challenges and sharing country experiences. Every year, there are about 30 senior government officials from more than 20 Asian countries to participate in the JIMS. Since its inception in 2011, there are more than 300 senior government officials attended the JIMS. For building a resilient and prosperous Asia, we welcome highly motivated senior government officials of emerging Asia to apply for the JIMS 2025!
