SPARK Team
, a districtwide strategic action team focused on strengthening and sustaining our signature programs, including STEAM/MSA, IB, Dual Language Immersion, Traditional, AVID, and CGP.
We are inviting
parents and community members
to apply to participate in this collaborative work. The SPARK Team will help guide continuous improvement, explore future program opportunities, and ensure our signature programs remain strong, sustainable, and aligned with student and community needs.

The Eclipse at Laguna Elementary

In this thrilling episode of the SUSD Spotlight podcast, Superintendent Menzel takes the show "on-the-road" to Laguna Elementary where 5th graders, along with teacher Brian Vogan, witnessed the historic 2024 solar eclipse. Students used problem solving and research to create their own safe viewing devices out of cereal boxes, showcasing this to Dr. Menzel. They expressed their excitement about the solar event and documented their learning. Also, in this episode, hear some information about Laguna Elementary as a STEAM-focused, award-winning school serving SUSD students as young as 2 years-old.

Within a couple of years of arriving in the Valley of the Sun, he quickly realized offering a premiere educational experience was key to providing pioneers a reason to stay in Scottsdale and, with that, the Scottsdale School System was born.
