The department of Optometry was established in the year 2021. We offer full time Bachelor of Optometry (B.Optom)that follows semester based and credit-based evaluation system. Department of Optometry focused in educating the next generation Optometrists and vision science researchers. We provide well equipped practical rooms, hands on experience, clinical demonstration, adequate library, journal club presentation, clinical case discussion and exposure to community eye camp. Our graduates aim to facilitate the detection, diagnosis and treatment of vision disorders.

Objectives:
Optometry knowledge:
Students will provide care to patients –efficiently and in a cost-effective manner –under the range of various settings, and maintain foremost the interests of individual patients
Professional competence:
The Students will interpret results of common ophthalmic procedures, develop differential and definitive diagnose, including the skilful use of vision care instruments and material and management of eye and vision condition
Optometric management:
Students will be able to design, manufacture and prescribe diverse optical aids including spectacles, sunglasses, ophthalmic lenses, contact lenses etc.
Scientific attitude:
Students will be utilize sound scientific principles during interactions with patients and peers, educational endeavours, research activities and in all other aspects of their professional lives.
Problem analysis:
Students will be able to demonstrate the scientific and statistical principles underlying the practice of optometry.
Design and develop complex problem:
Students will be able to develop systems that meet the required needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal and environmental considerations.
Develop/design solution:
Students will be ableto design solutions for complex optometry problems and use research based knowledge and research methods including designs of examination, analysis and interpretation of data and combine the information to provide valid conclusion
Optometric assessment:
Students will be able to examine, diagnose and advise treatment, modality and solution for various ocular disorders.
Critical thinking:
Students will learn to interpret results of common procedures, develop differential and definitive diagnoses, devise and implement treatment and management strategies, including the skillful use of ophthalmic materials.
Communication:
Students will learn to communicate effectively on complex optometric activities with optometry body and with society as such in eye screening and being able to comprehend and write effective reports, provide effective presentations and propose solutions.
