Brown University Brown University The Brown community is resilient, caring and strong. We are ever true. Brown Ever True is a whole-campus recovery effort, launched in the wake of a senseless act of violence that took the lives of two students and injured nine others on December 13, 2025. Brown Ever True coordinates the work of the entire campus via a roadmap to recovery intended to build our community’s sense of security and ensure that students, faculty and staff have a space to help us heal and move forward together. The unofficial motto of the Brown community, “ever true” is tied directly to the University’s official fight song and has developed over the last century into a shorthand for the lifelong loyalty of the Brunonian community. In the wake of the attack on December 13, members of the Brown community began using the phrase to signify the strength and resolve of Brown in the face of tragedy.
