About ITS
Systems and Services
ITS provides a variety of systems and services to students, faculty and staff that
are intended to foster a strong learning environment. The following are some of the
services offered or supported by ITS.
Computer labs
PCOM offers modern computer labs featuring Windows 11 systems and printing services
at its PCOM and PCOM Georgia locations.
The computer labs are reserved for current students, faculty and staff of PCOM, unless
other special arrangements have been made.
Food is not permitted in the computer areas, including the general use computer labs,
specialty labs, breakout rooms and small lounge areas within the general use labs.
Violators may be asked to leave the facility.
PCOM
There are two computer labs at PCOM:
Hassman Academic Center, Room 219
Rowland Hall, Room 425
PCOM Georgia
The Information Commons serves as a library, student computer lab and study area.
E-learning
Blackboard is the College's Learning Management System (LMS) and collaborative environment
between students and faculty.
Through Blackboard Collaborate and Zoom, lectures can take place synchronously and
asynchronously. These services can be accessed through

Email
PCOM uses Google Workspace by Google Cloud as its email and collaboration platform.
Gmail
All students, faculty and staff are issued Gmail accounts with the pcom.edu domain.
Google Workspace
This account also provides access to Google Calendar web calendar, Google Drive file
storage, Google Chat and Meet web conferencing as well as the various Workspace productivity
tools including Docs, Sheets, Slides and Forms.

Enterprise applications
Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine utilizes Workday as an enterprise application
to facilitate various administrative and business functions.
Workday
Workday is the College's Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system which houses critical
information and facilitates the smooth operation of various departments on campus.
Employees are typically assigned accounts as needed when they begin at PCOM. Requests
for new or revised access using the system access forms found in
myPCOM

ExamSoft
Note:
New operating system versions are not usually supported by ExamSoft at their initial
release, so students should not upgrade their operating systems or install beta versions
of operating systems until support is announced.

System Requirements
Examplify has specific system requirements which must be met in order to use the program.
In general, any modern laptop or computer (purchased in the last 3-4 years) should
work.

IT purchasing
Requests for technology-related purchases should be made to ITS via the Service Desk.
Requests will be reviewed and approved to ensure that they are budgeted and meet PCOM's
standards. After a purchase is received, ITS will arrange with the employee it was
purchased for a good time for installation.

Off-campus access
PCOM employees who require access to PCOM systems from off campus may request a Citrix
account and/or a “Virtual Private Network” (VPN) Account.
About Citrix software
Citrix virtualization software allows you to securely access your PCOM network files
and software programs from an off campus computer or laptop.
About Virtual Private Network (VPN)
A virtual private network account allows you to securely access your PCOM network
files and programs (such as Workday) from off campus. You must be using a PCOM issued
laptop in order to request VPN access.
Request an account
To request either Citrix or VPN access, a director or department manager must submit
a request to the ITS Service Desk by creating a ticket through an email to
servicedesk@pcom.edu
and explain the reason for this access.
ACCESS CITRIX
Office 365
PCOM students, faculty and staff are able to sign up Office 365 accounts.
About Office 365
Microsoft's Office 365 provides users with both the cloud-based Office Online and
installable versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and more. Licenses can be used on
up to five PCs or Macs in addition to using Office apps on mobile devices.
This is not trial software. To get started, visit the
Office 365
site and enter your PCOM email address.

Printing
Printing on campus is handled through the PaperCut system.
Print Queues and Releases
Print jobs go to a holding queue and can be released printers by holding your PCOM
ID card up to the card reader until it beeps. Additional details and documentation

PCOM Printers
Wireless printing is available to four printers in the library, four in the Hassman
Academic Center computer lab and two in the Rowland Hall computer lab.
PCOM Georgia Printers
At PCOM Georgia, wireless printing is available to two printers in the student lab
and one classroom printer.
PCOM South Georgia Printers
At PCOM South Georgia, print jobs can be sent to the printer in Print Services located
next to ITS.
Telecommunications
ITS manages the network and telephone infrastructure throughout PCOM, providing phone,
voicemail, fax and computer networking services to all PCOM, PCOM Georgia and PCOM
South Georgia employees.

to view instructions for your office desk phone and voice mail.
Telecommunications Requests
Contact the
ITS Service Desk
to arrange installation or setup of telecommunications services such as adding a
new phone line, setting up an office phone tree, troubleshooting a copier or fax machine
and more.
Pagers
Pagers are available for faculty, staff, interns and residents as needed.
Web
The College's portal and intranet—
myPCOM
—is accessible to students, faculty and staff, and provides information and documents
that are personalized and pertinent to the PCOM community. It serves as a central
hub for various systems and provides single-sign on (SSO) access to quickly reach
these services.

Wireless
WiFi Internet access is offered throughout PCOM, PCOM Georgia and PCOM South Georgia
locations using 802.11ac access points.
Connecting to WiFi
To connect to PCOM WiFi while on campus, use your phone or mobile device to connect
to the wireless network named “PCOM” and enter your PCOM network username and password.
