GIET University , Gunupur has long and cherished tradition of commendable initiatives, institutionalized programmes and practices of Corporate Social Responsibility which played a laudable role in the development of several underdeveloped regions of this locality.
GIET University, as an educational institution, plays an essential role in developing society and contributing to the welfare of the citizens. The University has an ethical, social responsibility, considering its association with the students, other affiliated institutions, local and central government, employees, different companies, and the local community. GITEU, in its regular functioning, is also an active corporate entity and has specified strategic plans and practices that aim for the betterment of society and extending corporate social responsibilities for the masses.
GIETU has a long and continued history of working in the service of the public good. Its exemplary role in uplifting the nearby underdeveloped areas is an example in itself. The top priority of GIETU has always been civic engagement and social empowerment and educates students, helps discover new knowledge, and develops student's character and intention. The University has taken numerous initiatives for the cause of healthy development to uplift the community life.
The variety of roles and responsibilities of the students of GIETU is extended to a range of public services sectors. For this reason, GIETU earned many laurels and several awards, applause, and appreciation by Honorable CM of Odisha Shri Naveen Patnaik himself. Its efforts to serve people are evident from the regular community drives and tuition services extended to the society. GIETU also conducts or hosts several activism campaigns to empower women as a medium of sharing inspiring stories. It further instills in students' minds and intellect a broad base of knowledge about tackling issues on the field.
Blood Donation Camp
Blood Donation is a common practice at GIET University. With an intension of "Giving back to the society", GIET Universiy, Gunupur organizes blood donation and awarness programs through out the year. Every month a good number of blood units are collected and donated to the hospitals for their ready use.

The students, staff & general public are made aware of the beneficial aspects of blood donation & the precautionary measures while donating blood and encouraged to be a volunteer blood donor to bring a life back to power.

To touch someone's life, to feel the joy in giving, GIET University runs a
"Vastradaan"
initiative and distributes clothes to the poor & needy villagers every year during Daan Utsav week.
Jal Shakti Abhiyan (JSA)
'A drop of water is worth more than a sack of gold to a thirsty man.'
Water is a primary element to sustain and nurture livelihoods and nature.
GIET University Gunupur prioritizes the importance of water and its conservation. The University has, to promote the water conservation campaign “Jal Shakti Abhiyan (JSA)”, taken innumerable steps to converse and recharge groundwater.
The University has a farm pond on its sprawling campus to conserve collected rainwater for future use. There is also a residential grey-water system used for landscape irrigation across the campus. The University focuses on watershed development and intensive afforestation to save water as a part of the active ‘Jal Shakti Abhiyan.’
The Jal Shakti Abhiyan is an intensive water conservation initiative promoted by the Indian Government in May 2019 to counter the water crisis issues in the country. The Abhiyan focuses on the following primary objectives:

Environmental Sustainability
GIET University goes beyond mere tree plantation, to inculcate a sense of responsibility in its students towards the environmental protection.
Through research initiatives, teaching programs and active engagement of people, GIET University strives to lead into a world that is more sustainable and environment-friendly. GIETU conducts various plantation drives, sanitization drives, cleaning the nature campaigns among many more to create awareness about promoting a better world for the future. The environmental sustainability vision of GIETU is to use the full potential of academia to aware the people to create an environmentally sustainable world.
The school of agriculture, GIET University conducts training programs on seeding and production of saplings for the students. The NSS wing of GIET Universtiy organizes plantation drives throughout the year at different spots on the campus to mark the auspicious occasions like Gandhi Jayanti, Vanmahotsav, Children's day, Independence Day, Republic Day etc. Students are encouraged to plant saplings and nurture them till the end of their academic session.

In the tough times of the COVID-19 pandemic, GIETU reaches out to the community to help fight the virus, stay safe and healthy. The University designed donated and installed auto hand sanitizers, full-body sanitizers, and dry vapor steamers in public places. The University has advanced research tools and technologies to conceptualize and develop the sanitization and steamer devices. GIETU is doing its best by helping the masses to prevent the spread of the deadly virus and protecting each individual in the process. We at GIETU would dedicatedly lead the community with our technological developments to fight the pandemic!

Employability Initiatives
In the present scenario, skilling, re-skilling and technical training can only solve unemployment problem of the Nation.
In this direction, a programme called "SWABALAMBAN" has been launched by GIET University to enhance the education, employability and livelihoods of the unemployed youth living in rural areas.
Under this programme; short-term courses/training like Masson and paint work training, Driving training, Mobile repairing training, Plumbing, Carpentry, Welding, Mushroom Cultivation training etc. are offered to the trainees.
