Careers & Employability
At St Dominic’s School our Careers Guidance is an integral part of our wider curriculum offer. There is a planned programme of careers education that is taught within the Needs Led Curriculum, including PSHCE. This programme is delivered in part by our specialist Needs Led teacher and in part by our Careers Guidance Team. Progress in this element of our curriculum is assessed alongside all other areas of the Needs Led and PSHCE curriculum.
By continually gathering and analysing destination data, we ensure our careers programme and guidance effectively support our pupils and students in progressing to suitable education, employment, or training opportunities after leaving school.

Our Careers Guidance Practitioner has a diploma in Careers Guidance and, alongside the input into the curriculum, is also able to offer pupils and students individualised careers support. This may take the form of:
One to one careers interviews
Small group work
Input into transition plans
Vocation Profiles
Support with CV writing and applications to college or work
College Interviews
Work Experience
We adhere to the Gatsby Benchmarks and the national requirements for
Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance.
All staff contribute to the careers and employability programme through their roles as tutors, therapists, subject teachers and support staff.
We hold an annual Careers Week which offers pupils and students the opportunity to meet a range of employers and post 16 providers (such as colleges and training providers) as well as the opportunity to visit different employment settings. We encourage providers of apprenticeships and vocational training (including T Levels) to come into school to inform pupils and students about these opportunities.
