DFPI’s dedicated Enforcement Team proactively identifies and pursues those who violate the laws under our jurisdiction. Responding directly to complaints we receive from the public helps us protect consumers, borrowers and investors.
We enforce the law in several ways, including by issuing administrative orders and bringing civil actions. Such actions may result in penalties, fines, the revocation of professional licenses and consumer relief such as restitution or rescission of contracts.
Collectively, these actions help us promote fair and honest business practices to maintain consumer trust and confidence in the California financial marketplace. To learn more about how we enforce the law, visit our page on DFPI’s
Enforcement Division
. Californians can also submit complaints via our dedicated
Complaint Submission
page.
