How We Enforce the Law - DFPI About What We Do How We Enforce the Law Browse Actions and Orders A current and historical (January 1, 2002 to present) listing of desist and refrain orders, civil actions, administrative actions, orders, and Administrative Hearing Decisions, issued by the Commissioner of the DFPI. Administrative Hearing Decisions The Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH) hears contested cases related to the desist and refrain orders, administrative actions and orders issued under many of the laws within the jurisdiction of the DFPI. Consumer Alerts The DFPI issues Consumer Alerts to raise awareness of current marketplace threats and fraud. Alerts may be based on a consumer complaint or a recent enforcement investigation. Responding directly to complaints we receive from the public helps us protect consumers, borrowers and investors. We enforce the law in several ways, including by issuing administrative orders and bringing civil actions. Such actions may result in penalties, fines, the revocation of professional licenses and consumer relief such as restitution or rescission of contracts.
