The Hockey Museum is delighted to announce the appointment of lawyer and former international goalkeeper Katy Roberts to its Board of Trustees.
Katy is a senior legal counsel, manager and leader with 20 years’ experience in the banking industry. She is currently a Managing Director in the Legal Department of Nomura, a global investment bank, where she is Head of Transaction Legal in Europe, Middle East and Africa.
Between 1999 and 2008, Katy gained over 40 senior international caps with England and Great Britain, including participation in the Women’s World Cup in Madrid in 2006 and the EuroHockey Nations Championships in Manchester in 2007. Katy was a member of Team GB for the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008 where she was the reserve goalkeeper.
After retiring from elite hockey, Katy went on to become a Non-Executive Director of both England Hockey (2011–2020) and Great Britain Hockey (2015–2020). She was also a member of the International Hockey Federation’s (FIH) Women in Sport Committee between 2019–2023 raising awareness of gender equality and the value of diversity in sports governance.
Katy will bring significant skills and a deep understanding of strategic governance, inclusion and developing stakeholder relationships to THM board. She will also provide a strong understanding of elite hockey in the modern era and links to recent past international players.
Katy said:
“I am delighted to join the THM board and look forward to working with the other trustees, employees and volunteers to help THM achieve its vision and ambitious goals. I have always been drawn to the power and value of heritage and the importance of building a solid future on the experiences of the past. THM’s role in preserving, sharing and celebrating the rich history of hockey is a unique and exciting project and I am very pleased to be joining the team.”
The Hockey Museum’s Chair of Trustees, David Knapp, said:
“I am delighted to have Katy on board as the latest trustee to join our board. Katy provides many professional and hockey related skills and benefits that supplement our board perfectly. I am personally excited at the links that Katy has amongst the hockey family, especially the higher echelons, following her stellar playing career and experience in non-executive director roles at England and GB Hockey. Katy’s trustee appointment will give is considerable added strengths in many areas.”
