Our mission

development and
continuously
helping
students to adopt CIU’s
“Lead, Innovate and Transform”

prov

ing the best university experience for them.
We recognize that our students are the backbone of this institution, and it is our duty to ensure that every student has access to quality education, opportunities for growth, and a supportive environment
for a competitive and comprehensive development
where their voices really matter.
Despite of the many achievements and growths CIU is experiencing in recent years which among others made it become the Leading Medical Teaching Private University in East Africa, w
e are
also
well awake to the barriers
we face as guild body and
also as a young university
mainly regarding
resource limitations that ma
y
constraint our efforts in achieving
o
ur
goals and objectives
. N
on-the-less we will strive to effectively utilize whatever will be available to achieve the most outcomes.
As
Guild President, I pledge to work tirelessly with the university adm
inistration, faculties
and students to implement our agenda and create a better CIU for all. We will prioritize transparency, accountability, and student involvement in
almost all
decision-making processes.
I therefore conclude by inviting
all students, staff, and
stakeholders
including other universities to collaborate with
us on this journey towards
making CIU a beacon of
excellence. Together, we can build
or
a
lay foundation for a
brighter future for CIU and empower our students to become lea
ders in their communities today and post CIU.
God bless you all, God bless CIU.

When I first walked through the gates of CIU in January 2022, I was an ordinary student with a simple plan: get in, survive the lectures, graduate, and move on. The "college experience" wasn’t something I was chasing. Making friends wasn't a priority for someone who considers herself an introvert. My mantra was clear: focus on my studies, avoid unnecessary socializing, and get that degree. I was pursuing a Bachelor of Public Health, and my goal was straightforward walk away with my degree and step into the world of public health.
The first semester went exactly as planned. I was the classic "invisible student" attending lectures, submitting assignments, and quietly moving to and from campus. But as time passed, I realised that CIU had more to offer than academics. It became a place that shaped me in ways I never anticipated.
The turning point came when I decided to run for Miss CIU in 2022. To this day, I’m not sure what possessed me to do it. Maybe it was curiosity, or maybe a touch of insanity, but I went for it anyway nerves and all. I practised my walk, rehearsed answering questions, and did all the preparation that came with it. Somehow, I made it through. When they announced my name as the winner, I was in total disbelief. That night, I felt an overwhelming sense of pride. I learned that stepping outside your comfort zone can lead to the most unexpected and rewarding moments.
Not long after, I was appointed Guild Vice President in 2023. While I didn’t have to campaign for this role, it pushed me to grow in ways I hadn’t expected. Suddenly, I was interacting with more people, listening to their concerns, and representing their needs. For someone who used to avoid small talk, this was a huge leap. The role demanded organization, resilience, and a level of leadership I had never tapped into before. It helped build my confidence and taught me the real value of leadership not just for personal growth, but for making a positive impact on the people around me.
And then there were the friends I wasn’t so keen on making. Along the way, I met some of the most amazing people individuals who felt heaven-sent and completely changed my perspective on friendships. They supported me, challenged me, and inspired me in ways I couldn’t have imagined. So, not only did I gain incredible experiences, but I also gained lifelong friends.
Looking back, my journey at CIU feels almost surreal. I started as a student who just wanted to blend into the background, and I ended up as Miss CIU and Guild Vice President. Now, as I prepare to graduate this March with my Bachelor of Public Health, I realize that CIU didn’t just teach me about academics; it taught me about courage, community, and the power of embracing opportunities. For that, I’ll always be grateful.
