Alumni Volunteer Program
Application deadline is on April 16, 2026.
The Program
Bellarmine College Prep’s Alumni Volunteer Program is a service program for alumni who have recently completed their undergraduate degree. Our vision is to build intentional community and leadership through service to the school for an academic year. Through their work, alumni volunteers (AVs) gain a deeper appreciation for their school and service-learning while living with fellow alumni volunteers. The AVs also grow in their understanding of Ignatian spirituality through community life and regular meetings with members of the Bellarmine faculty and Jesuit community.
Details
Alumni volunteers are placed in various roles across campus after consideration of the school’s current needs and the unique talents and experiences of the Alumni Volunteer applicant. AV’s have served in Admissions, the Academic Resource Center, Campus Ministry, Alumni Office, Christian Service Program and assisted many departments in carrying out special programs. Volunteers are expected to support school events and are encouraged to participate in retreats, immersion trips, clubs and athletics as appropriate to their personal skills and experience. In all activities, the volunteers serve as mentors and role models for current Bellarmine students.
The commitment for an alumni volunteer is 10 months, from August to June. Volunteers will gather for an orientation at the end of the summer (Aug 6-7) and then will join the Bellarmine faculty for their back-to-school meetings before the start of classes.
The alumni volunteers are supported by a faculty member who mentors their primary job assignment, as well as by two faculty "chaplains" who support the AVs in community life and their Bellarmine experience as a whole.
Bellarmine provides alumni volunteers with housing, health insurance, lunch on weekdays and a modest monthly stipend.
Beyond the work, an important element of the alumni volunteer experience will be life in community. All alumni volunteers will live together and will be intentional about structuring time for communal meals, communal prayer and reflection, and communal recreation.

Not necessarily. Though alumni volunteers have historically taught classes, placement depends on the needs of the various departments and the capabilities of the alumni volunteer.
The alumni volunteers are expected to serve many needs across campus, so they might help proctor student events and tests, lead immersion trips and Kairos, accompany students to service opportunities, and aid with other needs on campus.
No, it is not expected or typical for Bellarmine to hire alumni volunteers as full-time faculty members at the completion of their AV year. However, volunteers are welcome to apply for openings that may exist.
