Chief Albert Luthuli Sports Tournament
Chief Albert Luthuli Sports Tournament 2026
The Luthuli Museum is proud to announce this year’s annual Chief Albert Luthuli Sports Tournament, a dynamic youth development initiative aimed at promoting sport, social cohesion, and the enduring legacy of Chief Albert Luthuli.
The tournament takes place on 28 March 2025 from 07h00 in the morning at Stanger High School sport grounds. This one-day sporting event brings together teams from across the iLembe District, comprising youth between the ages of 15 and 17 who participate in the Club Development League in the iLembe Region.

Programme for Young Women
The Luthuli Museum, in partnership with
The Gale Programme
, will host its much-anticipated
Night at the Museum
programme on
Saturday, 28 March 2026, starting at 18:00
.
Participants will enjoy a memorable overnight museum experience coupled with a workshop that will focus on a session that is designed to create a safe and restorative coaching space for young women to:
▪ Reflect on identity beyond societal expectations
▪ Engage in dialogue on womanhood within their community
▪ Explore emotional and spiritual restoration
▪ Strengthen self-worth
▪ Conversations meaningfully on women’s empowerment

Dr Albertina Luthuli, the daughter of Chief Albert and Mrs. Nokukhanya Luthuli, in the 2006 Ronald Harrison book about her father, wrote in the Foreword,
“The book is a historical text, relating the history of a people who emerged from the depths of darkness into the light and hope. From 1994, following the first democratic election in the life of our country is moving forward…and hope that South Africa will be happy country for all who live in it, and that poverty, together with poverty-related diseases, will be eradicated”.
