Apply as a first-year student if you are a current high school student or have earned 11 or fewer credit hours at another college post-high school graduation.
Use the Common App to apply as a first-year degree-seeking student at one of Purdue University’s two locations: West Lafayette and Indianapolis. More than
200 majors
are offered.

Transfer Students
You are a transfer student if you have
completed at least 12 credit hours of college-level coursework
taken post-high school. Some majors are not available to transfer students. Before applying, please check the

Non-degree Students
Non-degree students include local residents who want to take a class for personal enrichment, guest college students attending another institution who want to transfer the credit back to their college and high school students who are taking a Purdue course while still in high school.
If you have recently been denied admission to Purdue, you cannot be admitted as a non-degree student.

F-2 Visas
International citizens in the United States on F-2 visas must visit the Office of International Students and Scholars before applying to be a Purdue University Online or Pathway to Purdue Agriculture student. Failure to do so may result in revocation of your visa and possible deportation.
Returning Students
You are a readmission student if you were academically separated from the university. Before you apply, there are several steps you must complete, including reestablishing a strong academic record at another college. For more information, review our

Not all majors are listed on the readmission application. If the major you want to return to is not listed in the Program of Study Options section of the application, choose the major closest to your desired major and use the Personal Information section to explain why you selected it. If you are selecting a major other than the one you were enrolled in previously, to be admitted you will need to meet the Change of Degree Objective requirements for the new major. In addition, readmission into any major is at the discretion of the academic department.

You are considered a reentry student if you previously attended Purdue West Lafayette or a Purdue Polytechnic Statewide location as a degree-seeking student and voluntarily left Purdue in good standing, no standing*, or on academic notice and have not registered for three consecutive terms or more, including summer term, prior to the term you intend to return. This also applies if you have already earned a Purdue undergraduate degree and wish to take additional undergraduate courses.
*If you withdrew from all of your classes during your first term and didn’t receive any grades — only Ws — you wouldn’t have academic standing.

Special Populations
Pathway to Purdue Agriculture is a partnership between the Purdue College of Agriculture and Ivy Tech Community College-Lafayette through which students are enrolled at both institutions with the goal of earning a bachelor’s degree in agriculture from Purdue.
If you’re just beginning in this program, you’ll complete Purdue’s non-degree application.
If you’re a current Pathway student who is ready to transfer to Purdue, you should apply as a transfer student, rather than non-degree. Learn more about

Veterinary nursing is an academic program for those who want to pursue nursing careers within the animal health field. Purdue offers its associate degree in veterinary nursing as an online, distance-learning program. Information about the program and admission requirements are available on the
