Project Goals Feature Gallery Expansion Children’s Gallery History Gallery Renovation Mission Support Courtyard Renovation Expanding the Museum Since its modest beginnings in 1940 as a small exhibit space in the carriage house at Callahan House, the Longmont Museum has experienced remarkable growth and transformation over the span of 80+ years. It has evolved into a leading hub for groundbreaking programming, captivating exhibits, and impactful educational experiences in Northern Colorado for individuals of all ages. With its distinct local connections, the Longmont Museum symbolizes a community that embraces diversity, fosters connections, and cel ebrates a vibrant tapestry of customs and cultures. Construction is already underway! While The Museum exhibits are closed for expansion, all programs continue! Expansion Initiative After careful evaluation of its mission and strategic plan, as well as the continuous increase in attendance, it is clear that the Longmont Museum needs to undergo an expansion. The museum will embark on a comprehensive construction project aimed at enhancing every aspect of its operations, encompassing not only the galleries but also the provision of expanded office space to accommodate the growing staff. Children's Gallery DreamLab is where imagination meets discovery—a place where children turn dreams into reality through experimentation and learning. Kids don’t just play— they explore, test ideas, and solve problems through hands-on, interactive experiences. Like any great laboratory, DreamLab is built for exploration. Here, children take risks, create, and learn by doing. No two dreams are the same— each child brings their own ideas, their own curiosity, and explores their own dreams at the Longmont Museum. Feature Gallery Expansion Expanding the size of our feature gallery to provide more room for artists, accommodate multiple exhibits simultaneously and feature more robust touring exhibitions. History Gallery Renovation While we look to update our permanent history gallery, the Museum is prioritizing bringing staff into conversation and collaboration with humanities scholars, tribal representatives, evaluation and interpretation consultants, and community members to bring a fresh perspective to our regional history. We aim to create a refined exhibit that uses new scholarship and a broader selection of stories to teach visitors of all ages about the history of the region. Mission Support Increasing office and support spaces to align with our strategic plan of increased staffing, enabling us to offer more diverse programming and fulfill our mission. Ways to Give The Longmont Museum is a cultural center in Northern Colorado where people of all ages can explore history, experience art, and discover new ideas through dynamic programs, exhibitions, and events. Your support is vital to the Museum’s expansion, which will give our community access to transformative cultural experiences that engage and inspire.
