Discover IUJ
English-Only,
Graduate-Only: By Design
Classroom discussions operate at a policy, business, and
analytical level, producing depth, rigor, and sustained intellectual engagement.
IUJ is one of the very few universities in Japan offering 100% English-taught graduate programs.
As a graduate-only institution, every student is already accomplished and here to
accelerate
their impact in the world.
International:
By Structure, Not Slogan
At IUJ, we do not just discuss international collaboration –
we live it.
Students from over 60 countries and regions join IUJ each year.
Global issues are examined through lived experience, as classmates bring perspectives
shaped by different governments, markets, and institutional systems.
An alumni network spanning 140+ countries and regions extends these connections into
professional life, long after graduation.
Intensive Learning Through
Small Classes
This environment accelerates learning and builds confidence
in complex decision-making.
IUJ maintains a faculty-to-student ratio of approximately 1:9, far lower than most
universities.
Small classes enable sustained dialogue, direct faculty access, and close mentorship.
Students are expected to defend ideas, revise assumptions, and develop judgment
through repeated interaction.
Focused Study
in Niigata, Japan
Unlike a large city, where international students can feel
isolated, the setting reinforces
continuity, community, and depth.
IUJ is located in Minami Uonuma, Niigata Prefecture – a
safe, affordable setting designed to
support learning, reflection, and growth.
Students live, study, and build networks together on a residential campus.
Daily life is well supported, allowing sustained focus on academic and professional
development.
In essence, IUJ is best suited for individuals who:
Focus on rigorous learning and professional growth
Seek analytical skills and open debate,
Intend to work across borders, sectors, or institutional systems
Are looking for focus, immersion, and community
Join a community where
next-generation leaders
are
shaped
– and where
your
future takes form.

Exploring the World Through an International Campus in Japan
I decided to pursue a master’s degree not only to expand my future
career opportunities, but also to build on my bachelor’s studies in a more practical and global
context. I chose IUJ because it offers international relations courses in English, Japanese language
classes, and a truly international learning environment in Japan. Studying at IUJ has allowed me to
learn alongside students and professors from diverse backgrounds, which has been invaluable for
understanding the world from different perspectives. Although campus life in rural Minamiuonuma was
very different from an urban university, the strong student community, active associations, and
support from IUJ staff made the experience rewarding. Living close to nature also added a unique
balance to my studies. After graduation, I hope to work for an international organization, possibly in
Japan. My advice to prospective students is to prepare for life in the countryside, embrace the
winter, and fully enjoy IUJ’s vibrant community and opportunities.
About IRP
Seeking Global Connections and Professional Growth in Japan
I wanted to expand my knowledge and skills in economics, so I decided to pursue my Master's degree at
IUJ. Since IUJ is comprised of students from different parts of the world, I had the opportunity to
become friends with people from diverse cultures and learn from their global experiences. My interest
in global development and economic issues aligns with my major, International Development Program
(IDP), making my studies meaningful. Thanks to the supportive environment here at IUJ, I have
developed significantly since my first day here, both personally and academically. After graduating, I
intend to work here in Japan and continue improving myself in order to fulfill my personal goals. For
prospective IUJ students, I believe this is the best university to learn and connect with each other,
while at the same time enjoying nature and creating many unforgettable memories together.
About IDP
Advancing Policy Skills for Better Governance in the Philippines
Driven by a strong interest in public investment and policy evaluation, I chose to pursue a master’s
degree to strengthen my analytical and evidence-based policymaking skills. I selected IUJ’s Public
Management and Policy Analysis Program because of its multicultural academic environment and its focus
on government innovation and leadership. Through rigorous coursework, active discussions with
professors and peers, and hands-on research, I have built a solid foundation in economics and
quantitative analysis while gaining new perspectives on public policy and governance. Serving on the
student council also enhanced my leadership and community engagement skills. Living in rural Japan
offered valuable time for reflection and personal growth. After graduation, I aim to contribute to
more inclusive public policies and collaborate with international and development partners. My advice
to prospective students is to clearly understand your purpose, learn from IUJ’s diverse community, and
embrace this unique environment for growth and reflection.
About PMPP
Finding Your Own Perspective Through Global Dialogue in a
Multicultural Environment
When Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, I was deeply shocked. At the same time, I felt that
simply expressing opposition to the war was not enough. I wanted to understand how Russia views the
world and to form my own perspective on the conflict based on that understanding. At IUJ, I was
fortunate to find faculty members and an academic environment well suited to this pursuit. No single
nationality dominates the classroom, which makes discussions especially meaningful. Because there are
no single “correct answers” in international relations, IUJ offers a unique space to exchange ideas
with people holding diverse viewpoints and to develop one’s own informed conclusions.
About IPPP

between India and other countries. To prospective students, I strongly recommend IUJ for its immersive

About MBA
Rebuilding Business Foundations to Develop Confident Decision-Making
I decided to pursue a master’s degree because I wanted to move beyond decision-making based solely on
experience and develop the ability to make consistent, theory-based judgments. In my professional
work, I was constantly moving between learning and practice, yet I felt that my knowledge was
accumulating in a fragmented way. This led me to realize the importance of stepping back and
systematically relearning business fundamentals. That realization became the driving force behind my
decision to pursue an MBA. At IUJ, I found an ideal environment where students from diverse
international backgrounds challenge and inspire one another. I encourage you to take this step as
well. The experience here will surely become a valuable asset for your future.
About IMBA
Developing Better Judgement to Lead Organizations with Strategy
When I started my Master’s degree, I didn’t just want a “better job”; I wanted better judgment. I want
to lead with clarity, make decisions with data, and understand how strategy, people, and execution
actually come together in the real world.I chose IUJ and the JGDP (MBA) because it’s a truly global
classroom in Japan; practical, intense, and built around discussion, teamwork, and problem-solving,
not just textbooks. Life here has changed me in small daily ways that add up: stronger discipline,
sharper communication, and a calmer, more resilient mindset under pressure. I’ve learned to
collaborate across cultures and turn ideas into action. After IUJ, my goal is to advance our
understanding of socialization, culture, and management practices by continuing my current research
into the subject.

Mastering Digital Transformation for the Future of Vietnam
I chose to pursue graduate studies because, with a business background, I wanted to understand digital
transformation more deeply and see how it really shapes organizations. IUJ felt like the right
place—top program, diverse community, and professors who are truly supportive. Living and studying
here has helped me grow a lot: learning from different cultures, dealing with real business issues,
and getting clear guidance for my thesis. After graduation, I hope to return to Vietnam and contribute
to the country’s fast-moving digital transformation, especially in areas like FinTech. For future

About DXP
Using International Relations and Management to Make an Impact in
Africa
After graduating from university, I was dispatched to Uganda as a JICA Overseas Cooperation Volunteer.
Through this experience and my subsequent work in international affairs, I often felt the need to
strengthen my academic foundation. Many colleagues in the field held master’s degrees, and I decided
to pursue graduate study to deepen my knowledge.
I chose IUJ for its uniquely international environment and English-taught programs. The International
Social Entrepreneur Program especially appealed to me, as it allows me to study both international
relations and business to better understand international cooperation from multiple perspectives.
At IUJ, I have grown through active discussions that encourage independent thinking. After graduation,
I hope to apply what I have learned by working again in Africa. With students from over 60 countries,
IUJ is a strong alternative to studying abroad for those seeking a truly global learning environment.

Strengthening Research Training to Inform Evidence-Based Policy
My enthusiasm for teaching and research has shaped my academic path. Before joining IUJ, I worked as a
research fellow at a research institute and as a teaching assistant at the University of Mandalay in
Myanmar for two years. To strengthen my research skills and deepen subject knowledge, I pursued my
doctoral studies at the International University of Japan.I chose IUJ for its exceptional research
training, wide-ranging courses, and vibrant international community. The Ph.D. program immerses
students in both theory and practice during the first year, then empowers them to pursue research in
the following years. My time at IUJ was transformative, driving both my academic and personal growth.
Throughout my Ph.D. journey, I had the opportunity to publish two articles with my supervisor in an
international peer-reviewed journal. I also broadened my teaching skills by serving as a teaching
assistant at IUJ and as an assistant English teacher at a nearby high school.Upon graduating from IUJ,
I aspire to become a teacher or a researcher who can advance evidence-based policy development. If you
are eager to build strong research skills and deepen your subject knowledge under the guidance of
excellent faculty, the Ph.D. program at IUJ is an excellent choice.
