'Run the rat race to qualify for the best, on metrics that have no true bearing on how prepared they will
be for the world they will step into'
. A man once said, deeply unsettled by how many pedigreed
institutions function as filters to acquire the best students and thrive off their legacy, with no thought of
how to enable or inspire them. After a prolific career spanning four decades and across industries,
Sunder Raju returned to his long coveted dream of establishing an institute that recognized students as
the autonomous learners they are. In 2020, this dream became a reality through Atria University.
Atria University, fuelled by the intellectual curiosities and expertise of some of India and the world's
brightest, is attempting to address the challenge of tomorrow by stitching together disparate learnings
into a single holistic process, exemplified by its motto Learning to Learn. On learning to learn, he
comments,
"if that is the only skill that a student takes away, I believe we would have provided a truly
differentiated offering.
" Not willing to stop there, he reveals his larger goal: creating a citizen of
tomorrow.
With its technology enriched classes, individualized learning paths, and opportunities for peer and
collaborative learning, Atria University believes in learning or by doing, or as we like to call it;
active-learning. Sunder Raju is convinced that the educational system as we know it must evolve if the
