International Women’s Day 2026: Women in Action, Even in Times of War - WIZO - Women`s International Zionist`s Organization - social services Skip to content Join us Donate As Israel faced the realities of Operation Roaring Lion, WIZO marked International Women’s Day, one of its central milestones, with a global and nationwide campaign that reinforced the role of women as a driving force in times of crisis and recovery. Rather than setting the day aside in light of the ongoing situation, WIZO chose to highlight it. In a period defined by uncertainty and disruption, the campaign focused on the visible and ongoing contribution of women across all areas of life. The 2026 campaign was built around a clear message: Women don’t wait. They act. WIZO creates the conditions. Women create the change. Through the stories of women from across Israeli society, including mothers, young women, professionals, and community leaders, the campaign presented what WIZO defined as “Extra Ability” — the capacity to initiate, lead, rebuild, and influence in complex and demanding circumstances. These stories reflected a broader reality. Since October 7, and throughout the continued period of conflict, women stepped forward across education, trauma response, community rebuilding, family stabilization, and civic leadership. From Israel to the Global WIZO Network The campaign was implemented both across Israel and throughout WIZO federations worldwide, creating a unified message with local relevance. In Israel, the campaign was integrated into community activity, professional frameworks, and public engagement, reflecting the direct impact of women’s leadership on the ground. At the same time, federations activated the campaign internationally through coordinated digital storytelling, events, and outreach: A series of short video stories highlighting individual women and their impact Social media content distributed across global platforms with a unified message Integration into community events, panels, and donor engagement Each element connected personal stories to a wider narrative of women as active agents of change, supported by WIZO’s frameworks. A Continuum of Leadership The campaign presented a continuum of women’s leadership across generations and experiences. From women rebuilding communities following October 7, to those supporting reservist families, to young women stepping into leadership roles, the campaign reflected a broad and evolving definition of impact. These stories were not isolated. They represented a wider system in which women are supported, equipped, and empowered to act. A Message Within a Complex Reality Taking place during a period of ongoing conflict and in proximity to Passover, the campaign carried an additional layer of meaning. The concept of freedom, central to the holiday, was reflected not only in historical narratives, but in the present reality of women taking action, making decisions, and shaping their own paths under complex conditions. International Women’s Day 2026 was positioned not only as a moment of recognition, but as a reaffirmation of WIZO’s long-standing commitment: to create the conditions in which women can lead, and to ensure that even in times of war, that leadership continues to shape the future.
