Athletics
Athletics plays an integral role in the lives of Holton students.
The interscholastic athletic program at Holton-Arms School embodies the school’s mission to cultivate the potential of young women through the education of the mind, soul, and spirit. Our dynamic athletic program provides an arena for the development of life and leadership skills. Physical and mental challenges in a team context cultivate resiliency, responsibility, tenacity of purpose, and a commitment to others.
Our athletic teams and physical education classes teach students to challenge themselves and take risks in a culture where failure is considered an excellent opportunity for discovery and growth.
Students are given numerous opportunities to develop, excel, and nurture the skills necessary to live healthy active lives. We are committed to developing programs where leaders are cultivated and winning is met with humility and grace.

The Holton-Arms Middle School program recognizes and responds to the unique characteristics of adolescent girls in its instruction, activities, expectations, and goals. In the Middle School, we seek to develop and strengthen fundamental skills in a variety of activities. Coaches and students explore, rather than specialize, in athletic opportunities. Middle School athletics focus on teamwork and sportsmanship, health and safety, responsibility and accountability, and building meaningful relationships.
The Lower School Physical Education program is designed to provide opportunities for students to experience a wide variety of activities which aid in developing perceptual and kinesthetic ability. Physical education class in grades three through five is specifically designed to increase fitness and develop bilateral coordination in large and small muscle groups. In grade six, students review the basic skills learned in grades three through five and begin intramural sports competitions.
