Designed for students interested in environmental problem-solving, ethical leadership, and social impact, the Sustainability Combined Major equips students to tackle complex sustainability challenges through interdisciplinary study across environmental science, business, policy, and the social sciences.
About the Program
By integrating coursework from environmental science, economics, business, ethics, sociology, and political science, the program emphasizes sustainability as both a scientific and social challenge. Students develop a broad skill set that prepares them to approach sustainability from multiple perspectives—corporate, community-based, policy-driven, and global. This interdisciplinary structure maximizes the program’s relevance and prepares graduates for diverse career pathways, including work with corporations, nonprofits, government agencies, advocacy organizations, and entrepreneurial ventures.

Understand sustainability as an interconnected environmental, economic, ethical, and social issue
Analyze sustainability challenges using interdisciplinary perspectives
Apply ethical reasoning to environmental and organizational decision-making
Evaluate the social and environmental impacts of policies, institutions, and industries
Communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders about sustainability issues
Develop solutions that prioritize equity, community engagement, and long-term environmental responsibility
Prepare for careers or graduate study in sustainability-focused fields, including business, policy, advocacy, public health, and environmental science
