Texas A&M researchers may pursue external research funding from a variety of sources—state and federal government agencies, non-profit organizations, and corporations. In addition, the university provides internal grants to inspire interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary collaborations to advance groundbreaking research.
Internal Funding
Texas A&M is dedicated to helping its faculty expand their research portfolios across all disciplines. These programs support generating preliminary data, exploring new directions or collaborations, and strengthening existing collaborations for major proposal submissions.

Arts and Humanities Fellows Program
Recognizes and supports extraordinary scholarship and creativity among Texas A&M faculty members who are engaged in the humanities or the creative arts.

Advancing Discovery to Market (ADM)
Provides resources to support the development or demonstrate the commercial potential of recent discoveries within the Texas A&M research enterprise. This $5 million program is open to researchers, faculty, staff, and students of Texas A&M University and three state agencies.

Panther RISE Grant Program (PRISE)
Resulted from an agreement between Texas A&M Prairie View University and Texas A&M University to better position their investigators to pursue federal funding to support multidisciplinary research and innovation projects. PRISE is open to tenured or tenure-track faculty members from all disciplines.
Targeted Proposal Teams (TPT)
Aims to enhance Texas A&M University’s research enterprise by fostering interdisciplinary research. TPT seeks to leverage extramural funding and promote collaborative and interdisciplinary research of national and global significance.

As the largest public funder of biomedical research in the world, The NIH invests most of its nearly $48 billion budget in medical research seeking to enhance life and to reduce illness and disability. NIH-funded research has led to breakthroughs and new treatments helping people live longer, healthier lives.
National Science Foundation
The NSF offers hundreds of funding opportunities — including grants, cooperative agreements and fellowships — that support research and education across science and engineering. Its investments account for about 25% of federal support for basic research.
U.S. Department of Energy
The DOE delivers scientific discoveries and major scientific tools to transform the understanding of nature and advance the energy, economic and national security of the United States.
