Students attend a minimum of 4 events from each category and 8 more “elective” events from any of the categories. Students who transfer in credits have fewer required Lyceum events depending on how many credits they transferred.
The Lyceum Program is a graduation requirement for undergraduate students. In order to graduate, students must attend

Lyceum events selected from four broad categories:
Academic lectures
explore scholarly topics that are relevant to current events or controversies and are of importance and interest to a wide variety of students. Prominent lecturers and panelists help students explore topics related to their own disciplines or may introduce them to important concepts from other fields of interest.
Personal and professional growth events
allow students to explore issues related to personal and career development, including understanding diversity, civic engagement, personal health and wellness, resume-building, career pathways, and leadership.
Faith and character development
events encourage students to explore their own beliefs and faith experiences, and those of others.
Fine arts presentations and performances
allow students to learn about and enjoy a wide variety of performances, including dance, film, music, photography, theater, and vocal performance, from locally and nationally acclaimed artists.

What are “Paths” in WUSync?
Lyceum, the name for a type of educational institution, was inspired by the philosophical teachings of Aristotle. The main goal was to gather and instruct students on the process of discovery and causation learning, by providing a series of public lectures, concerts, and entertainment.
The Lyceum Program at Wingate University is a unique co-curricular enrichment program that aims to assemble, educate and support students in their pursuit of discovery and causation learning. Through engaging public lectures, concerts, and entertainment, students can expand their observation of the world around them. As a graduation requirement for all Wingate University undergraduate students, the program offers a range of 3-24 credits, depending on the number of approved transfer credits.
Note that all events offered by the program are free and take place only in the Fall and Spring academic semesters.
The Lyceum Program at Wingate University aims to bring students together and provide them with five keys. These keys will unlock the doors of discovery and causation, enriching students’ knowledge and paving the way for them to become stewards in the Lab of Difference-Making. By doing so, they will become Difference-Makers themselves.
The Lecture key helps students unlock the academic door by providing them with educational talks typically delivered via speech or formal presentation, often by faculty members.
The Growth key helps students unlock the personal and professional door by helping them develop rational attitudes and skills that give them the courage and ability to work with others and thus better understand themselves and the world around them.
The Faith key helps students to unlock the spiritual door by developing a healthier perspective on life through teachings of selflessness, acceptance and love for themselves and those around them
The Art key helps students unlock the creativity door in artistic fields such as theater, film, sculpture, painting, music and other performing and visual arts.
The Elective key helps students unlock any door of their choosing.
The Lyceum Program categorizes undergraduate students as traditional or transfer.
Traditional students must attend four events in each area (Lecture, Faith, Growth and Arts), plus eight total electives, and have no University-approved transfer credits.
Transfer students have reduced requirements assigned by the Registrar's Office and can refer to the transfer chart.

Use this advice to be sure you stay on track:
Make a plan in advance. Use WUSync and the Corq app to find upcoming Lyceum events.
Be sure to RSVP for events you plan to attend.
Keep up with your Paths Account (learn more about your Paths Account by logging into WUSync)
Complete Virtual Assessments. If you attend virtual events, be sure to remain “in” the event for the entire time and then complete the quiz to receive credit.
Use your resources! Reach out to the Lyceum director or your academic advisor if you have any questions or need assistance regarding your Lyceum requirements.
Each event will specify whether there is a dress-code requirement. Be sure to read the event’s full details to find out any dress-code requirements. There are three types of dress code:
Casual:
This is a relaxed environment where you can wear jeans, sweaters, T-shirts, sneakers, flip-flops, sweats or gym clothes. Think of this as an outing with friends.
Semi-professional:
The expectation is that you will attend the event in a button-down shirt, dress pants, dress shoes, tea dresses or knee-length dresses. Think about wearing your “Sunday best.”
Professional:
The expectation is that you will attend the event in a suit jacket and tie, business suit or dress, casual slacks or skirt, polo shirt or nice blouse. Consider what you would wear to a formal event such as a wedding, reception or job interview.
Each online Lyceum event will provide detailed instructions in the description. Be sure to read them carefully. Typically, online events require an additional registration to record your attendance.
Log into online events at least five minutes prior to the event start time in case you have any technical issues. If you do have technical issues, email

Online etiquette means you pay attention, stay engaged and are a respectful participant. Push yourself to ask questions and contribute comments where appropriate.
Please note, you must be present for the entire online event to receive credit.

Lyceum credits are updated in NaviGate twice a week every (Tuesday and Friday). WUSync is updated within 24 hours. To stay up to date with Lyceum credit, students are advised to use their Paths account on WUSync.
Paths are an indicator of where you are with your Lyceum credit. On WUSync, you will find two ways to keep track of your Paths account. One way is looking at the progression bar, as seen below:
