THE VICE CHANCELLOR
Msugh Moses Kembe
is a Professor of Statistics. He is a proven erudite scholar and an excellent administrator. He is married to Prof. Elizabeth Kembe and the marriage is blessed with four children. Born about 53 years ago in Binev Ward, Tombo Mbalagh, Buruku Local Government Area, Benue State. His educational career began at the famous W.M. Bristow Secondary School, Gboko, Benue State where he graduated in 1979. He gained admission into the prestigious University of Jos and obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) Degree in Mathematics in 1984.
Prof. Kembe bagged a Master of Science (M.Sc.) Degree in Statistics (Operations Research) from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 1992 and crowned it with a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Statistics from the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi in 2009. To prepare himself adequately for the management of human and material resources, Prof. Kembe again studied and earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) from the University of Mkar, Mkar in 2014.
Prof. Kembe joined the services of the Benue State University, Makurdi in 1993 and rose through the ranks to become a Professor of Statistics. Prof. Kembe has held various administrative positions at the University, these includes: Dean, Faculty of Science, Deputy Dean, Faculty of Science, Head, Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, Examinations Officer, Department of Mathematics and Computer Science. He offered dedicated and meritorious service to the University in all these capacities.
During his tenure as the immediate past Dean, Faculty of Science, Prof. Kembe contributed immensely to the expansion of the Faculty by bringing on board six new academic programmes namely; B.Sc. Statistics, B.Sc. Industrial Chemistry, B.Sc. Environmental Management and Toxicology, B.Sc. Zoology and Environmental Biology, B.Sc. Microbiology and B.Sc. Plant Science and Biotechnology.
Prof. Kembe has many years of research experience as a consultant with local and international organizations. He has consulted for: the British Department for International Development (DFID), Benue State Health Systems Fund and the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Makurdi. He played an invaluable role on the technical team that competed and won the World Bank grant for the establishment of a Centre of Excellence at the Benue State University, Makurdi. Winning accolades for BSU as the only State University in Nigeria to have won this most coveted award. Prof. Kembe has attended many conferences, seminars and workshops and has published both nationally and internationally in reputable journals. Prof. Kembe has special interest in operations research which is essentially concerned with optimal allocation of resource and how this can be applied in education, business, industry, commerce, healthcare and many other fields.
Prof. Kembe has rendered many community services to his country and has received many awards from corporate organizations and communities toward his enormous contributions to humanity.  He is a member of many professional organizations and associations including; the Institute of Mediators and Conciliators, Statistical Association of Nigeria, Contact Friendship Club 1994 and the incumbent President, Benue State University Senior Staff Club. He is widely traveled and his hobbies include tennis, football and cool music.

EDUCATION
He attended St Mary’s Primary School, North-Bank, Makurdi (1976-1982); Government College, Makurdi (1982–1987), then proceeded to the University of Jos for Undergraduate Medical Training (1988-1995 ) leading to the award of Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS ). Between (1999-2005) he was at the University of Jos Teaching Hospital for Residency Training leading to award of fellowship of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (FMCP) with specialization in Gastroenterology.
WORK EXPERIENCE
He began his working career at Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, Kano, as Intern House Officer (1995–1996), Medical Officer, Cement Company of Northern Nigeria, Sokoto (National Youth Service Corp (1996 –1997); Senior House Officer, Usman Danfodio University Teaching Hospital, Sokoto (1997-1999), and the Jos University Teaching Hospital, Jos (1999-2005).
Professor Achinge joined the Services of the Benue State University, Makurdi as Lecturer 1 in the Department of Medicine, College of Health Sciences 2006 and rose through the ranks to become a Professor of Medicine on 1st October, 2016.
RESPONSIBILITIES
While in the Service of the University, he held several positions of responsibilities. These included: Head, Department of Medicine (2010-2013); Dean, Faculty of Clinical Sciences in the College of Health Sciences (2013 – 2016) and Honorary Consultant Physician and Head, Department of Medicine (2011-2013) at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital while at the Federal Medical Centre, Makurdi he was Visiting Honorary Consultant Physician and Co - Principal Investigator (Harvard PEPFAR/ APIN Plus) 2006 – 2012 respectively. He was also a Training Consultant to ICAP Nigeria HIV/AIDS programme (2008–2012) and University Research Co (URC) 2009–2012. Coordinator, Advancement and Fund Raising Unit, 2011-2013, Member, Governing Council, Benue State University representing BSU Senate (2013-2016); member, Court of Governors, College of Health Sciences (2013-2016).
Professor Achinge has over 20 years working experience as a clinician Medical Teacher, researcher as well as health system manager in the Nigerian health sector. He has been offering specialist care and consultant services in various tertiary Institution across the country for over ten years and has special interest in quality improvement leading to good clinic purchase in Nigeria.
He successfully pioneered the establishment and accreditation of the Department of Medicine at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital, attracted three major to the Benue State University Teaching Hospital. Through his efforts, he successfully managed the renovation and restructuring of the HIV/AIDS centre at the Federal Medical Centre and successfully resuscitated the Diabetes Association of Nigeria (DAN), Benue State.
Professor Achinge has well researched publications in reputable Journals, attended several seminars/workshops and member of many Professional Associations. He is happily married with children.

EDUCATION
He started his education at St Francis Primary School, Otukpo (1973-1979) St Francis College, Otukpo (1979-1984), University of Jos, Jos (1986-1989) where he obtained B.Sc Zoology and M.Sc Applied Parasitology and Entomology (1990-1991). He crowned it at University of Nigeria Nsukka with Ph.D in Public Health Parasitology (2004-2007).
WORK EXPERIENCE
He began his teaching career with Benue State Teaching Service Board at Government Secondary School, Otukpo (January to November, 1992). He was employed as an Assistant Lecturer, Benue State University, Makurdi in December, 1992 and rose through the ranks to become a Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences in October, 2011.

Since joining the University, he has served the University in various positions of responsibilities. These includes: Head, Department of Biological Sciences (2011-2015); Deputy Dean, Faculty of Science, (2010-2011), Chairman, Benue State University Protestant Chapel (1997-1999), Examination Officer, Department of Biological Sciences, (2004-2008), Chairman, ASUU-BSU Electoral Committee, Branch Election 2011; ASUU –BSU Ethics Committee, 2011 and Electoral Committee, Branch Election 2014.
Professor Omudu delivered the 8th Benue State University, Makurdi Inaugural Lecture series entitled ‘’Poor, Powerless and Parasitized: The epidemiological trial of communities at the end of the road’’ on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at the College of Health Sciences Auditorium.
He has well-researched publications in reputable Journals, Conducted Several Consultancy reports, presented papers at conferences across Nigeria with Workshops/Training/Operational research experience. He had also offered several community services and a member of many professional Associations.
His hobbies includes making friends, cooking and playing basketball. He is married with lovely children.

The University Bursar is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the institution, including budgeting, financial reporting, cash flow management, and investment oversight. They ensure accurate financial records, internal controls, and compliance with regulations, while coordinating audits and managing procurement, contracts, and student financial services such as tuition, fees, and financial aid. The Bursar also handles risk management, insurance, and legal compliance, contributes to strategic financial planning, and oversees staff and payroll processes. By managing financial systems and ensuring data security, the Bursar supports the university’s mission and long-term sustainability through effective financial stewardship.

The Librarian shall be resposible to the Vice Chancellor for the day-to-day administration and control of the University Library. He is also responsible for the cordination of the Library services in the University and its compuses, colleges, centers, schools, departments, institutes and other teaching or research units.
EARLY LIFE
Professor Agada was born on January 21, 1950 in Otukpa, Ogbadibo Local Government Area of Benue State. He is married with four children.
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS
He attended Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria where he attained the following qualifications: Diploma in Library Science, 1973, Bachelor of Library Science, 1977, Graduate Certificate in Education, 1977 and Master of Education, 1981. He attained the Ph.D. degree in Library and Information Science at the University of Pittsburgh, U.S.A.in 1984.
CAREER / EXPERIENCE
Professor Agada began his professional career as Deputy Serials’ Librarian at Kashim Ibrahim Library, ABU in 1973 and Graduate Assistant in the Department of Library Science, ABU in 1978. He was promoted Senior Lecturer in 1985. In 1990, he received a Post-Doctoral Fellowship award to collaborate on a research project at the School of Communication, Library and Information Studies in Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, New Brunswick, USA.
Between 1991 and 2014, he taught at Emporia State University, Kansas (Assistant Professor: 1991 – 1994, Associate Professor: 1999 – 2003, Professor: 2004 - 2009), University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee (Associate Professor: 1994 -1998) and Chicago State University, Illinois(Professor: 2009 – 2014).He wasVisiting Professor to The Catholic University of America inWashington, D.C. in 2004.
The new UL is a Professor Emeritus of Emporia State University where he attained the rank of professor in 2004.
Professor Agada’s administrative experience in academia includes directorship of a research center, 1999 – 2004, a doctoral program, 2005 – 2009, an academic department,2009 – 2013 and several grant-funded research projects.
The Council of the Benue State University, Makurdi during its 89th meeting held on 26th September 2014 approved the appointment of Professor John Agada as the third substantive University Librarian. Until his appointment, he was a professor in the Department of Information Studies, Chicago State University, U.S.A. He succeeds Mr. Jonathan Akatu Ocheibi who retired on July 12, 2014. By virtue of his appointment, Professor Agada is a principal officer of the University.
As the University Librarian, he is responsible to the Vice Chancellor for the development, administration and coordination of all library services of the university and it’s campuses, colleges, departments, centers and research units.
PUBLICATIONS
His publications which span library and information science, instructional technology and development studies include 14 monographs and book chapters, and more than 80 peer-reviewed articles in scholarly journals and conference proceedings. He is a reviewer of manuscripts and grant proposals for publication in journals and competitive awards by grant-making agencies, respectively in the areas of program design and assessment, knowledge management and information ethics and policy.
AWARDS
Overall, he has been awarded competitive grants totaling approx. 5 million dollars for designing and managing research and program development projects. One of such grants funded a linkage program between Emporia State University and three Nigerian universities between 2000 and 2004. His most recent award is a 1.9 million dollars’ grant from the U.S. Department of Defense to set up a Center of Academic Excellence in Information and Cyber-Security Education and Research at Chicago State University.
MEMBERSHIP OF PROFESSIONAL BODIES
Professor Agada is a member of the American Society for Information Science and Technology, American Library Association, and Association of Library and Information Studies Education. He is currently seeking membership of equivalent Nigerian professional associations.
