Thinking about Synodality
A great workshop on Synodality this morning with Julian Paparella, our Intellectual Formation Coordinator. We are taking advantage of two quiet days before university lectures start tomorrow, and this fits in very nicely with the opening of the Synod tomorrow.

Starting the year
It was great to be with some of the new men and the formation team (and Marion, Julian's wife) for a pilgrimage to the Catacombs of St Callistus recently. This was also their first visit to Palazzola, where we had lunch on the terrace overlooking Lake Albano.

A new priest
Congratulations to Fr Andrew Coy, ordained priest today for the diocese of Northampton.
Andrew left the VEC last academic year, as the coronavirus struck. He was ordained deacon while back in the diocese, where he exercised his diaconal ministry.

New website for Palazzola
Palazzola, the VEC’s house in the Alban Hills south of Rome,
has a new website
The strictures caused by the pandemic have given us the opportunity to look at the ways we publicise and market Palazzola, and one fruit of this work is the website.

Happy New Year
To mark the end of an extraordinary year, those remaining at the VEC celebrated in style. It was not the usual end-of-year celebration, of course.
