Tutoring Session Cohort 3
Students who complete their BS application get exclusive access to Screening Test Training Sessions at IIT Madras Zanzibar, featuring live sessions, curated practice sets, and expert guidance. These sessions help you clearly understand the syllabus, practice with real sample questions, and learn effective strategies for objective exams, along with the opportunity to interact directly with IITM students through live Q&A sessions.
RIEP – RISE 4.0 Innovation Bootcamp
IIT Madras Zanzibar hosted the RIEP – RISE 4.0 Innovation Bootcamp, bringing together students, faculty leaders, and innovation stakeholders from India, Kenya, and Tanzania. The programme featured an international hackathon, a three-month mentorship phase, an intensive innovation bootcamp, and a faculty exchange programme with 30+ East African universities. Our team CarbonTrace, secured a £3,500 non-dilutive grant to further develop their innovation.
On July 11, 2025, as IIT Madras celebrated its 62nd Convocation in Chennai, IITM Zanzibar hosted its first-ever Degree Distribution Ceremony.
This milestone marks the graduation of the inaugural MTech Data Science & AI cohort at our Zanzibar campus—a proud reflection of IIT Madras’s vision for global education and a shared legacy of excellence across continents. It also highlights the growing international collaboration in higher education and IIT Madras’s pioneering achievement in establishing India’s first offshore IIT campus.
Academic Programs
BS in Chemical Process Engineering
The 4-year BS in Chemical Process Engineering offers a comprehensive curriculum blending core chemical engineering fundamentals with practical laboratory work, industry-aligned projects, and electives that encourage interdisciplinary learning. The program is delivered by a distinguished faculty team from IIT Madras, IITM Zanzibar, and partner institutions, ensuring rigorous academic standards and global relevance.

BS in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence
The program will deliver a comprehensive curriculum in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, designed to teach in-demand skills necessary to excel in this rapidly evolving field. Add: The program involves foundational courses like probability theory, linear algebra and statistics, moving onto higher level professional courses. The course will also involve hands-on projects that help the students prepare for a future filled with limitless possibilities in DS & AI.

This program presents a rigorous and comprehensive curriculum designed to cultivate expertise in DS & AI. Along with core courses like Mathematical Foundations of Data Science, Programming and Data Structures and a selection of supplementary electives. The Master of Technology in Ocean Structures offered at IIT Madras Zanzibar Campus will have a curriculum tailor-made to the industry needs in the Oil & Gas and Maritime sector. The program covers the basics of marine & offshore hydrodynamics, structural design for oil and gas exploration offshore platforms, ports, harbours including port structures & breakwater. The course equips students with core and elective courses to prepare them for careers in the oil & gas and maritime sectors.
